Deserts are hot. Especially in the noontime, where the sun is perfectly placed above the flatlands casting still shadows and blazing heat. It takes someone really brave or stupid or confused to cross one alone. Take Leo for example, she's comfused. Not stupid or brave. Lost, simply lost. Where is she going? She doesn't know. Where does she want to go? Thats beyond her even. In fact, she's so lost that if she wasnt mumbling her name right now she wouldn't have clue on who she was either.
"My name... My name is Leo." She mummbled quietly. "Leo... My name.. Leo.." Her lips bled from the dry air craacking them. Her skin bright red on her neck and arms. Leo was practically dragging herself in a shuffle walk. Her mind so numb and exhausted that saying her name was the only thing keeping her awake, she didn't care anymore where she was.
Thunk
Leo stopped in her tracks, her head genlty bumped into something. Looking up skowly, squintung from her eyes so blinded by the sun. In front of her was a large sign that was painted in dull purples and blacks, 'Welcome To Nightvale' the sign read enthusiastically. Leo stared at it for a moment, then stepped around it, squinting past the heat mirage, a few clicks ahead of her. She saw it. . . a town.
"A.. A town." Leo breathed and smiled, her chest aching with hope. She started for it, Water, she thought. With that she walked briskly along the road to a seemingly normal, not-so-normal town. . .
