This was my English assignment tonight and I thought that it might interest LOTR fans and maybe give y'all a heads up on how I write.
I was wandering through the town, investigating my surroundings, you could say, and I wasn't seeing anything but beauty until I got to the end of 5th avenue. The appearance of the house was alarming, and I wasn't sure what frightened me most—that it wasn't torn down, or that people actually lived there!
The bright yellow paint was chipped and peeling, rain gutters broken and hanging down, and some even on the ground! Cobwebs were everywhere, and I couldn't help but wonder: Has no one ever cleaned this house! One of the windows had a dirty, grayish-looking blue towel covering a long, spider web-patterned crack in the window. A tree had fallen through the pale gray roof and destroyed half the roof! Moss covered the fallen tree, and not just on the north side I might add! A rotting wooden swing lay on what was left of the roof, and had obviously been hanging from the tree. Next to the tree, there was an ugly car that appeared to belong in a junkyard and was dripping oil onto the yard.
Oh, don't even get me started on the yard! The dead, yellow yard had patches of dirt and weeds were everywhere! Sadly, even the weeds were looking a little bit droopy. Candy wrappers and pop cans were thrown all over the dry, crunchy grass. Beer bottles and cigarette butts were easy to be found as well. Who could do this to their own home? I nearly laughed as I saw the small sign hanging over the crooked door: The Last Homely House.
Be sure to review and tell me what you think about my writing and how I could improve. I'll actually write a full story eventually, but for now, I need to know what you guys like and want to read about.
