July 4. Arthur hated this day with a passion. The day Alfred declared his independence and left him. Even though they were lovers now, Arthur still couldn't bring himself to celebrate it. Every year it made him depressed and he wanted to be left alone so he could get drunk.
Unfortunately, it seemed that wasn't going to happen since Alfred was determined this year to celebrate his birthday with Arthur. Currently, he was sitting on the couch with the Brit.
"Artie, you gotta celebrate with me!"
"Why should I celebrate the day you left me?"
"Don't think of it like that."
"How? You know every year this day makes me depressed."
Alfred grabbed Arthur's hands and and held them.
"Arthur. If I never became independent then I would still be considered your brother. The reason I wanted independence was so I wasn't like a brother to you anymore. I wanted to be something more. Like we are now. If I wasn't independent, then we couldn't be lovers."
"Oh..."
"I love you, Arthur. We're lovers so we should celebrate together."
Arthur could feel himself blush. Alfred was so different when he was serious. He never even thought of Alfred's independence that way. If Alfred wasn't independent then, they couldn't be lovers... Arthur loved Alfred so much and he couldn't stand not being with him. Even though he hates this day, it wouldn't hurt to celebrate his lover's birthday, right?
"A-Alright. I'll celebrate with you."
"Really? Thanks, Artie! It means a lot!"
"You're welcome and, I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I know this day has always been hard for you, but remember, I love you."
"I love you too and, happy birthday."
Alfred kissed Arthur passionately and the Brit kissed back. He was so happy Arthur finally accepted to celebrate his birthday.
Even though Arthur hates this day, he had a feeling Alfred would convince him to celebrate his birthday from now on.
Thanks for reading and I hope you liked it! :)
