A/N

Hey guys! I feel reaaaaallllyyy bad about not updating very often, due to constant swim practice and homework, so I decided to give y'all something to read. This also was originally intended to be a one shot, but I really liked it, so I think I'm going to add it to chapter 4 of I'm a Rebel. Maybe. And then, possibly, turn it into a story. Maybe. Tell me if it's a good idea.

Recovery begins by Fireflight

Luna Lovegood sat sadly on a small rope swing, her feet pulled up to her chest. The wind pushed her, in a comforting manner.

Bringing her small, delicate hand to her cheek, she wiped away a crystal teardrop that had fallen. She glanced over at the crooked house she and her father called home, her large, sparkling blue eyes filled not with wonder, but sadness. The big, oak tree shaded her, giving her comfort as she sat sadly, forgotten.

It had been like this ever since her mother had died last month. Her father, as usual, was probably raving like a lunatic about these mystical creatures, many he had made up in his head. He said all the creatures had told him it was her fault her mother had died. After all, she had been the one helping her mother in the lab. It was only chance, he told her, rotten chance that she had lived instead of her mother.

A fairy flitted about her head, causing her to smile as it took refuge in her long, blond-white hair.

The smile dropped as she thought about what had happened the day her mother died. Run child, she had told Luna, run, I give my life to save yours. I love you, Luna.

Curling her head into her arms, she started to sob. It was a sorrowful sound to come from such a loving creature, but musical, even throughout her pain.

Stop.

Life was a bit like a swing, a rope swing under a mystical, fairy oak tree, Luna mused as she stood at the edge of a cliff, looking down at the rolling waves. Crash, they sounded, crash! Life is short, they seemed to tell her.

I know, she mentally hummed, I know, my friends. But what is life without love?

With one last glance at her childhood home, her mothers necklace around her, her mothers clothing upon her body, and the doll her mother had given her clutched tightly in her hands, Luna turned to the cliff, running towards it. Then she jumped.

Was this what it was like to be a bird, she wondered, her arms spread as the Wind carried her across the sky. Glancing down at the sea bellow her, she smiled at her reflection, asking the Wind kindly to carry them faster to her destination. Smiling, she looked in front of her to see a small cottage upon a hill, a small cliff overlooking the sea. It was far off from the mainland, hidden in the forest of some.

The Wind landed her lightly on the ground, whipping around her in one last hug before darting off. Luna smiled and waved goodbye to thee Wind, then turned to the cottage. A small animal darted out of the hood of her jacket, causing Luna to turn her head and bring him into her embrace.

The small creature squirmed in her arms, "You were in there all along, weren't you," she whispered smiling.

Turning around to face the darkening night sky, the stars glowing bright, she smiled. The stars blinked brightly, telling her that others were still in need of care, not just her.

Luna blinked back tears, dropping her arms. The small cat-like creature jumped to the ground, winding around Luna's legs in a comforting manner.

Now she had a reason to live, a reason to love…

…a reason to care.
