"So, all I have to do is inject myself with that?" Alice asked as she eyed the syringe doubtfully.

The doctor smiled and nodded. "Though of course, if you don't want to do it, we always have plenty of other volunteers."

Alice saw her opportunity passing. "No wait, of course I'll do it!" she said quickly.

The doctors' grin spread all the way across her face. "I was waiting for you to say that." She tested the syringe to make sure it wasn't blocked, and thick grey liquid oozed out of the tip. "Ready, Ms. Brandon?"

Looking at the needle and swallowing hard, she whispered, "Yes."

Bella and Edward sat in the cramped room, waiting for the line to move up for their chance to test out a new drug. It was supposedly helping science, and Edward never passed up a chance to be one of the first to do something. Bella, however, was fidgeting and gnawing on her fingernails. She never wanted to be here. She was fine with sitting at home with a good book, but Edward had basically dragged her here.

"Bella, if you keep eating your hands, you won't have room for lunch." Edward said irritably. He hated being seen with her when she was being a freak. She was insanely gorgeous, but she was a freak.

She whimpered into her hand. "Edward please can we go, please? You know how I feel about needles and I don't want to get sick what if it makes me go blind or something even worse? Edward please let me go home! I'm begging you!"

He had enough. People were starting to stare at them. He grabbed Bella's shirt and pulled her up so her eyes were on his face. "Now you listen to me, Isabella." Bella winced. "We are going to try this out, and then we'll leave. Now stop acting like a fucking five year old!" He slammed her back down onto her chair and ignored her and everyone else.

"There, see? That wasn't so bad, was it?" Dr. Cullen asked. She flipped her caramel colored hair over her shoulder and stared at the small girl in the chair. Alice's face made her look like she was about to throw up.

"Um, no, I guess not." She tried standing up, and put a hand to her forehead to steady herself when she swayed.

"Are you all right? The effects shouldn't be kicking in this soon…" Dr. Cullen murmured, flipping through her notes.

"Oh, no, I always get like this after I get a shot. No biggie." Alice ran her hands through her short hair, spiking it up more. "So, um, what is this supposed to do again?"

Dr. Cullen smiled. "This one? This one is supposed to make you fly."

A/N: Yeah. Kinda weird. It was my dream, and it was freaking weird, so I decided to write it down. Sorry this chapter is so short, but it's a prologue kind of thing. So keep reading and reviewwww."
