Mabel watched in awe as the blues, reds, greens and purples flashed together in the night sky, accompanied by the thunderous, chest banging sound of them taking off and exploding. She was always so easily ensnared in their light, heck, even the sound was pretty cool. She snuggled under the blanket, her pig on one side, her brother on the other.

Dipper, believe it or not, was just as into it as his sister was. The colors, the patterns, all of it made the sky look beautiful in the starry night. He especially loved the bright loud ones, the ones that made everything shake when it exploded. He really got a kick out of it. Mabel, not so much.

Those where in fact her least favorite of all them. She had always been afraid of thunder, and those where even worse! Her favorite was the ones that sent out all the sparkles after they exploded, those where amazing! She yawned and fidgeted on the mystery shacks roof. Their Grunkle was too cheap to buy them any fireworks of their own, and he didn't want to take them to the town one, as he hated the bugs and people to the same degree. But, the roof was the perfect spot for watching them from afar. They brought blankets, snacks, Dipper even helped her carry Waddles up.

Now, the snacks gone, and the grand finally begun, there wasn't long until they had to take everything inside. But first, the fireworks.

It was pandemonium, the colors causing the sky to light up so you could see the smoke from the earlier ones, colored purple and red and blue and green.

The sound rocked through the air, the shack almost collapsing under the sounds, some of the trees bending back. The twins and the swine watched in awe as the show came to an end, the sky alight with fire. Dipper looked to the woods (on a whim) and immediately nudged Mabel. When she looked at him annoyed, he pointed to the tree line, and Mabel's eyes widened in amazement. Every creƤture they had faced, from the gnomes to the Multi-bear and even Quentin trembly stood at the outskirts of the forest, oohing and aweing at the spectacle of the Fourth of July. When the fireworks stopped, causing the world to be plunged into darkness. When the echoing booms of the show faded, the mystery twins could hear the creatures returning to the woods, until all that could be heard was the natural sounds they had become accustomed to over the few weeks they had been there.

Mabel looked at Dipper, and he did the same. Both smiled, and didn't say a word as they gathered their blankets, garbage, and pig from the roof. They then made their decent into the shack, threw their garbage away, and went to their room to fall quickly asleep, colors and sounds playing in their heads.

Happy fourth everybody!
