I set out on a narrow way many years ago

Hoping I would find true love along the broken road

But I got lost a time or two

Wiped my brow and kept pushing through

Lorelai Victoria Gilmore was not one for giving up. She'd never given up on a thing in her life. So when she left her parents house and said she'd make it on her own, she did. She hadn't known where to go. She'd heard about Stars Hollow. Christopher had told her it was a small town, not to far form Hartford. Nice place, he'd said. Had he ever been there? Christopher Hayden? In Stars Hollow? Hah! Not a snowball's chance in Hell.

So that was exactly where she went. Or, where she meant to go, really. She'd wound up on the porch of an Inn. The Independence Inn, she noticed. Fitting, she'd thought. She knocked on the door and hoped the movement hadn't woken her daughter Rory. Luckily for her, Rory was a sound sleeper. Like mother, like daughter.

She didn't know the woman behind the door would be her salvation.

I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars

Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

"Come on Luke, one cup won't kill me!" A much older Lorelai whined.

"If it doesn't I just might." Luke the Diner man growled. "Your incessant whining could cause my eardrums to burst, making me deaf, and you'd never get another cup, did you ever thing of that?"

Lorelai stared at him for a moment. He almost dared to leave.

"I can learn to sign." She smiled. "Now come on!"

"This is going to kill you."

"And you said yesterday it'd rot my brain."

"And apparently I was right." Though even has he argued with her, he found himself caving in and pouring her another cup of liquid death.

I think about the years I

spent just passing through

I'd like to have the time I

lost and give it back to you

But you just smile and take my hand

You've been there you understand

It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

"Hey Luke?"

"Yeah?"

"Did I ever thank you for my chuppah?"

"What? You didn't even use it."

"I still love it."

"Yeah...well...you're crazy anyway."

"Hey Luke?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank-you."

"Your welcome."

Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars

Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

"Please!"

"Forget it."

"Luke..."

"No."

"But he's so cute!"

"Lorelai, you're not an animal person!"

"That's not true! I love animals!"

"Yeah, but you don't take care of them very well."

"Look at Rory!"

"I hate to break it to you, but Rory's not a pet."

"But she can walk, and she learned to work the coffee maker..."

"Skippy."

"Ok, I'm done."

Now I'm just rolling home

Into my lover's arms

This much I know is true That

God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

"Lucy, I'm home!" Lorelai Danes called.

"I told you to stop calling me that! Do I look like a freaky red headed women to you?" Luke mumbled as she leaned up to kiss his cheek.

"If you did, we wouldn't be having this conversation, now would we?" She asked, rasing an eyebrow.

"You really need to stop watching that show."

"It's wholesome entertainment."

"That makes you slightly insane." Luke reminded her.

"But that's why you love me."

"If you say so." Luke grinned softly at the mock glare on her face.

"You get the room finished?"

"I got the room finished."

"Ducks or planets?"

"Well, Rory's afraid of swans, so I thought it'd be safer to use planets or else she might not ever go in there."

"You're too good to me."

"I try."

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you.
