I sat on the counter of the coffee shop my brother and best friend Phin and I own. "Hey October." I just put up my hand and waved as my brother walked in. "Phin, What are you doing coming in so late anyway?" I asked realizing it was already 12:00. "Video game at Hutch's house." He explained yawning. I nodded going back to my book. "October Bantum?" I heard a voice ask. "Who's asking?" I responded annoyed I couldn't go back to my book. I looked at the boy who called my name; he looked about 20 with black messy hair and dark green eyes. He looked oddly familiar. Ding! The light bulb went off. "Ian McKinley!" I exclaimed jumping off the counter and embracing him in a hug. Phin came out of his "office" and recognized Ian right away.
"What's up Ian?" He said. I looked at Ian and was flooded by childhood memories of my 2nd best friend and secret crush. "So how have you been the last 10 years?" I asked sitting back on the counter.
I.P.O.V
I walked through the small café in New Orleans, I didn't know what I was doing there just going back to my hometown I guess. I looked around the room and noticed the girl sitting on the counter; she had strait black hair and something about her features was familiar, then the light bulb went off in my head; it was my old best friend October Bantum. "October Bantum?" I asked unsure because I didn't see her brother anywhere.
"Who's Asking?" She responded I could hear the annoyance in her voice. She turned and stared at me for a second then her face lit up. "Ian McKinley!" She exclaimed jumping off the counter. She hugged me and then her brother came out his office. "What's up Ian?" He asked as if it was normal to see me. "So how have you been the last 10 years?" October asked sitting back on the counter. I was hit with painful memories of the deaths of my girlfriend. I told her the whole story of deaths plan and how it nearly killed me… twice. "Im sorry," She said softly. "I've had a lot happen to me; my friends were killed by a dead countess." Wow, that sucks. I told her.
"Have you talked to Missy yet." She asked. "No, I just got in town like an hour ago, and where does she live?" I asked. I hadn't talked to Missy in 2 years, since I graduated. Missy is my sister, my twin. I lived with my dad when he moved to McKinley and she stayed with my mom. "Umm… she lives by the park we played in all the time, just take a left and then it's on Allen st." She explained. I remember the park, it was fun when we made up obstacle courses and raced. "Hey Ian come here and look at this." Phin called out pointing on the counter. I looked and recognized the carving we put when we were 9 it read: O.B, P.B. I.M. And M.M. friends 4 life. We put it in the day I had to move, I didn't want to but my dad didn't give me a choice. "Well, I gotta leave bye." I said. I walked out and the first thing in my head were childhood memories, the first time I ever met Phin and October, October and Phin's 8th birthday, the day I moved away. I missed my friends. I missed October the most, we had so many secrets shared with each other.
