Legolas Greenleaf, prince of the elf realm Mirkwood, sat up high in the branches of his favorate tree with his best friend Estel.
"My Ada says that my name means 'Hope'." Estel told the young prince.
"I'm named after an elf from Gondolin. Legolas Greenleaf of the house of Tree."
"You mean the elf who lead the people of Gondolin away from the fallen city?" Estel asked in wonder.
"The very same."
"Wow." Estel said in amazement. Legolas nodded.
"Do you think we'll ever have adventures like they did Legolas?" Estel asked his elven friend. Legolas laughed.
"I doubt it. Nothin adventurous ever happens around here. Not since the days of Sauron."
"Except those spiders." Estel reminded him.
"Nah, they're more of a nuisence than anything." Legolas told him.
"Young Prince! Young Estel!" an elven guard called to them.
"Yes Gwanfael?" Legolas asked, poking his head out of the branches.
"Your Lord Fathers have called for you to return to the palace."
With a nod Legolas responded. "Thank you Gwanfael, tell them we will be there momentarily."
The guard ran off and Legolas jumped down from the tree, landing on the forest floor gracefully. Estel followed him.
"Let's go before our fathers become impatient." Estel suggested.
"Race you!" Legolas shouted, getting a head start.
"UH! No fair!" Estel shouted after the elf, trying to catch up. The two raced towards the palace, laughing and pushing each other around playfully, never knowing that they indeed would be part of their very own adventure in the very near future.
