Breakfast in Bed
Nathan Scott awoke to the sound of his alarm clock on the nightstand. He rolled over and flipped it off before it woke up his wife. He glanced over at her sleeping form, watching the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she slept. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before padding down the hall barefoot.
Grabbing the coffee tin out of the cupboard, he started the coffee maker before going to the fridge to get eggs, cheese, mushrooms and milk to make his special omelet for Haley. The first time he'd made it for her she's announced it to be the best thing he'd ever made for her. After cooking her breakfast, he placed it all on a tray before brining it down the hall to his wife.
"Hey sleepyhead," he whispered as he placed the tray on the nightstand next to her.
"Hi." Her voice was raspy as she spoke. She attempted to push away the layers of sleep as she slowly opened her eyes.
"I made your favorite," he replied pointing to the tray of food.
"Thank you, sweetie," she smiled as she sat up and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.
A beautiful smile graced the young woman's face as her husband set the tray in front of her. She cut off a piece of omelet and fed it to him happily.
"This is supposed to be for you, baby," he laughed.
"I'm willing to share," she replied coyly.
"I love when we have breakfast in bed. We should do this everyday," Haley suggested just before she took a sip of her orange juice. Just as she'd expected, Nathan had filled it to the brim of the glass.
"We can if we want," he offered with the infamous Scott smirk as he leaned over to kiss her.
"Alright then we will make this our little tradition."
"Sounds good to me."
"We have to seal it with a kiss," she said as she leaned in to kiss his soft lips.
He chuckled softly before quickly kissing her soft, pouty lips. "And why is that?"
"Because it's a rule," Haley insisted as he climbed back under the covers. These were the times they seemed to cherish the most; the simple times that they spent together laughing and joking about nothing in particular. A little over a year ago this never seemed like a possibility to them, but now everything was back to the way it used to be in some ways it was even better.
After finishing their breakfast they just lay in bed holding each other.
"Hales," Nathan said as he stroked her hair.
"Yeah," she replied glancing up into his big blue eyes.
"I love you."
"I love you too." She said with a huge grin as she lay her head back down on his chest just listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
The End
