It had been a normal patrol. Only more boring. It seemed as if every villian had more "importaint" things to do than get in trouble tonight. Not that this was a bad thing, to say the least Batman should have been happy. However he seemed to be troubled by something. Robin had been beside him nomore than a second ago, but now as he looked around he noticed his son was nowehere in sight.
How had he lost a nine year old boy in less than a second? What was Alfred gonna say when he returned home...childless? He shook his head to erase the thoughts from his mind. He would just have to search the city. How hard could it be to find a young child in a city full of robbers, mobsters, and rapiests? Ok so maybe that wasn't the best way to look at it, no matter he would find his son.
"Robin!" The Dark Knight shouted with a sliver of panic in his voice. When no one replied, he started to panic.
"Great, just great" he thought to himself, "I lost my kid!". Then a thought struck him. What would Alfred do? He'd probably just give some long, dull, british speak about how to care for a child correctly. That's when another thought struck him, the park. Kids liked the park right? Whatever, he was gonna go to the park wheather kids liked it or not.
When Batman finally arrived at the park he wasn't quite sure were to look. The size of the park was unnaturally large. With a huge sigh he ventured into the park. As he looked around he clearly didn't see what people thought was so great about it. "It's nothing but trees, grass, birds that steal your bread, and more trees." He mumbled angrly. Suddenly he caught something that attracted his attention. There were small foot steps in the mud. Perfect. These had to be Robins' tracks, besides how many kids come through the park in one day right?
"Batman!" A small voice peeped from above the Dark Knights' head.
Caught off gaurd by the voice, Batman allowed himself a jump of fear. It took him a few minutes to realize the voice had come from above his head. He tilted his head so that he was looking at the tree top above him. When his eyes fell upon the source of the voice a loud chuckle arose from him.
"It's not funny!" Robin replied from the tree as he crossed his arms over his tiny chest. He had somehow managed to get his right foot stuck between two branches, and had not been able to free it. Thus leaving him to hang upside down.
"I suppose that's what you get for running off." Batman replied with a hint of laughter in his voice.
"Just get me down! I've been up here for 20 minutes, the blood's rushing to my head!"
"I don't think I heard a please."
With a huge sigh Robin replied, "Pleeeeeeeeeeease get me down!"
Seeming satisfied, Batman pulled a baterang from his utility belt and threw it at the two thin branches that broke instanly. A yelp came from the little bird as he went sailing head first to the ground. Lucky for him however Batman caught him in his arms. He looked down at his son still laughing with a smirk on his face.
"Can we just go home now?!" Robin said as he jumped from his mentors arms. However though, as soon as his feet hit the ground the rest of him went with them. Being stuck upside down for 20 minutes had left him extremly dizzy.
The Dark Knight scooped the boy up in his arms again, only this time laughing even more. "Yes we can go home now." He replied as he started walking towards the batmobile.
"You do know that I'll have to tell Alfred about this right? I think it'll give him a good laugh."
"I know!"
