Kinda bad so far…
Eli hadn't seen Clare in about two years, so he was surprised to see her at his door. He stared at her, waiting for her to speak. She didn't, so he expected that he would have to talk first.
"So, let me guess, you're boyfriend left you, huh?" He asked.
"Husband, actually. Ex-husband." She corrected.
"Suits you right. It's the least you deserve for putting me through years of betrayal. I don't get why I took you back all of those times. …So, did you trick anyone else into believing that you would be faithful to them while you had your little adventure in London." He paused for a second, actually thinking about someone marrying her. "Wow, I feel bad for whoever married you. But I see that he's come to his senses and left your ass." She tried speaking, but he interrupted her. "Why are you here anyway?" She opened her mouth yet again. "Wait, I know. You think that since you got dumped this time, I'm just going to take you back? Well, it isn't going to happen like that."
"No." She shook her head. "I came to say sorry. …I'm just, I'm sorry for everything."
He literally laughed. "Apology not accepted. You can't just expect to be forgiven for everything by saying sorry." Without giving her a chance to respond, he slammed the door in her face, leaving her standing in the hallway outside of his apartment.
About two days later, Eli was driving around town when he spotted Clare walking down the street. She didn't look the same since the last time he'd seen her. This time she was carrying something in her hands: a baby. It couldn't be her baby, could it? She hadn't had the baby with her earlier… He felt like a creep just watching her as he waited for the light to turn green, but he couldn't help it. She was still so luring to him, no matter how many times she cheated on him. She was his first love, and she would always be remembered that way…
Suddenly, she stopped and sat down on a bench. The light turned to green, so he drove off, but headed her way instead. He pulled up in front on the bench. "Clare?" He acted as if he didn't know that it was her who was sitting on the bench. She sniffled. "What's wrong?"
"My mom won't let me stay with her anymore…"
"So, you don't have anywhere to go?" He asked. Why did she still have this effect on him? He wasn't seriously offering up his - "I still have the guest room, if you need a place to stay."
She nodded. "Thank you."
He got out and opened the door for her, after helping her properly secure the car seat into the backseat.
He began driving off. "So, who's this little guy?"
"His name's Carlos."
"He's cute. He looks like you." Eli smiled.
"He looks more like his father…" She said simply, seeming like she didn't want to say much more on the subject…
Lame so far, but it will get better!
