Jedi Knight Tyln Dooku was known for pece within the halls of the Jedi Temple. Usually. Masters, Knights, Padawans, and Younglings alike were now leaping out of the Knight's way as he dashed for the Healer's wing like his life depeneded on it. His Padawan's life hung in the balance.

Hold on, Qui-Gon, Dooku thought as he tore down the halls as fast as his feet would carry him.

He raced past Master Yoda, ignoring his former Master's command to stop. He wouldn't stop, wouldn't slow down until he reached the Healer's wing and learned of his Padawan's condiditon.

His eighteen year old apprentice had been given a solo mission and had been badly injured in an explosion.

The twenty-eight year old Knight skidded to a stop, slamming into the front desk, unable to stop the momentum of his run. Breathing hard, he gasped out his Padawan's name to his friend, Suri Bhade.

"He's in surgery, Tyln. Sit in the waiting room, and he should be out in a few hours.

Dooku collapsed into a chair in the waiting room nearby, his chest and sides heaving from his wild run from the other side of the Temple. A Padawan got him a glass of water, which he downed quickly.

Master Yoda and Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, who was a few years older than Dooku, came in, the young Master having given Master Yoda a ride to the Healer's wing.

The ancient Master was placed in the chair beside his breathless former apprentice.

"Needed to run so far and fast you did not."

Dooku was just barely able to reply upon still being so short of breath.

"Master, I needed to know if Qui-Gon was all right."

He recieved a smack in the arm with his old Master's cane.

"You attatchment to him you must let go."

Dooku had no reply. He couldn't stop the fatherly love he had for the boy.

"He wasn't ready for a solo mission, Master. This is all my fault. I thrust it upon him."

He was rewarded with another whack, harder this time.

"Your fault this is not! Protest Padawan Jinn did not! Ready he was!"

"He could have been killed."

Dooku shuddered at the thought. and was prodded with the cane.

"Yet killed he was not. Refused to die he did Fought to live for you he did."

Dooku was floored.

Qui-Gon had fought against death for him?

"Love a son for his father has he has for you."

"He fought death for me? Because he loves me?"

Master Yoda nodded.

"Knows of your love for him he does and returns it he does. Leave you by death so soon he will not. Good match you are. "

Dooku smiled at his former Master. The love Qui-Gon had for him he in turn had for the tiny Master beside him, and love he had for Qui-Gon Master Yoda had for him.

The hours passed slowly for the two Jedi.

Dooku was roused from his light sleep by Master Yoda's cane prodding his knee.

"What, Master?"

"Ready for visitors Padawan Jinn is."

Dooku was on his feet instantly, lifted his old mentor on his shoulder, and followed the healer to Qui-Gon's room.

"You have visitors, Qui-Gon."

Dooku walked in and was met with the smile he loved to see from the boy.

"Hello, Master, Master Yoda."

Master Yoda jumped onto the stool beside the Padawan's bed.

"How feel you, Padawan Jinn?"

"Much better, Master Yoda."

Master Yoda smiled, touched his grandpadawan's hand, and left the Healer's wing, leaving the boy and his Master alone.

Dooku looked at his apprentince.

"I'm sorry, Qui-Gon."

"Don't be, Master. How could you have known about the bomb? It was an accident."

Dooku gently touched the boy's cheek.

"I thought I was going to lose you."

"Never, Master. Life or death, I'll be with you always."

Dooku smiled at his apprentice, his son.

"I know that now, Qui."

Qui-Gon smiled back at his Master, his father.
