Knives are fundamentally destructive. I can't argue with that.

But what most people don't recognize is that knives are benign weapons, if there can be such a thing.

Unlike the swords that rend, the clubs that crush, and the bombs that burst, a knife can heal. A knife can cut away the ragged edges of disease, purging sickness from a limb. A knife's thin edge can dig a splinter from a finger, or a shard from flesh.

Unlike other weapons, knives do not exist solely to destroy.
