Wings

Stronger than the storm,
Is those who stand to fight
It doesn't matter who or what
As long as they give fight, not flight

Wings aren't here to carry me,
They can't sweep me into the heavens
Fire dances in the sky
There is no room for weakness

Heavy storm clouds gather, angry,
Ready to unleash pure war
But echoes of the past are warning signs
In this battle, no wings will soar

Peace is shattered faster than thin ice
Trust is fragile, there's no telling who is wrong
Cries of pain ripple the storm
The winding, whirling, whipping wind whispers

Dry lightning cracks across the skies
'Peace' cried the stars,
While the shadows cried 'war'
This battle was to be fought, anger going too far

Traitors, liars, betrayal blood-red
Loyalties were split, families divided
It was impossible not to see the faults
Evildoers used their fangs like a trident

There is no telling where the roots came
Revenge and lives are on the line
The wind is too strong for wings to fly
Everyone's shadow was twisted, like twine

Sea of darkness has tried conquering all,
They try and banish the sun
But the sun and storm are no equal match
When stars shine so bright, so light

Death laid like a black thunder cloud
Some wings had given flight
The shadows were banished to the ground
The quiet after the storm . . .

Had passed.
