I finished Deemo a while ago and it was just so sad T^T. Had to write this.

The sound of the piano echoed through the room. No dream would last forever. It was clear, they were nearing the end. The masked lady had told them many times to please stop playing, but on they went, the little girl smiling happily and Deemo playing songs for her as they explored the place they were in, a giant tower, so it seemed with many nooks and crannies to be found all while a tree grew out of an old stump.

Those days were just like any other day for them, playing the piano, wishful thinking, but as the tree grew, larger and taller with every song played, it became clearer and clearer the end of their dream came closer with each passing day. They ignored it, maybe unintentionally at the start, when they just seemed like strangers. But maybe later, it was because they knew deep down, the inevitable was to happen, happiness didn't thrive forever.

The day they discovered the basement and the tree's height stunted, it seemed great, she would get closer to getting out and maybe, she could Deemo outside and show him to all the places out there. There didn't seem to be any harm in doing so, the dream would live on, the days of fun lasting on, at least in her mind at the time. The new tree house that appeared, the balcony, and even higher, it seemed to be such a great addition to where they were.

When the thorn-covered door unlocked, it seemed like a miracle! They were so close! They could do so much more, meet so many new people and live life, right? It had to be true! After all, what else did they work so hard for. They would make it, failure wasn't an option!

When she climbed up all those stairs into the platform, she remembered everything just as it was starting to depart. Her name was Alice. She was involved in an accident where she and her brother Hans were hit by a vehicle... So that means... Deemo was actually her brother this whole time!? She had to go back! But the platform was in motion. She saw him sit down on the bench and start playing a song. She cried harder. It wasn't fair! She tried to reach out but slowly, she saw him turn into the back into the brother she knew him as and he smiled. Next to him, the masked lady took off her mask and it was... herself.

And as she moved higher towards the window she fell out of, she saw the room gradually break and disappear, just as her brother, and her reflection were too. She saw him, closing his eyes and accepting his fate and she turned away, to see the light and she made it through...

Ibitsu na inori no uta ni, yume no owari wo shiru.

From the twisted prayer within these songs, I learned the end of this dream.

Hope you liked it I might write another Deemo fic soon :D.
