Disclaimer: Nope, still not mine.

A/N: Had to write it, it wouldn't leave me alone.

I hope you enjoy, even though it's quite short!

Now off to watch the Teen Choice Awards (and the Guys of Glee!)

Andy McNally. Set after episode 7, 'Hot And Bothered'.

It's okay.

She can hear her father telling her the same two words, years and years ago when she was young (and before he started getting lost in the bottle of a bottle); they used to be able to calm her world and convince her that things could be just that – okay.

She's less naïve now; less oblivious to the inner workings of the world and less ignorant to the cruelty.

Less innocent.

The affect those two words once had on her began to lessen significantly the day her mother walked away from her, abandoned her, ad left her jaded; because two words couldn't make her come back then …

… And they can't change the world now.

Two words can't take away all the pain she's feeling. Two words can't make miraculously make everything better. Two words can't fix all of her problems. Two words can't change the fact that she just killed a man. Two words can't rid her of the guilt she feels in the pit of her stomach for killing another human being. Two words can't trump the horror she feels at the thought of the (proverbial) blood on her hands – even if the blood belongs (belonged) to the worst kind of monster there is on this earth.

Two words can't fix this.

Because she just shot a man; she just took a life.

And as much as she wants to believe Sam when he tells her those two words, she can't.

(She'll later revel in the miniscule bit of comfort it gives her, though; because while the words have lost their affect on her, there's a sliver of her heart that can't let go of the hope that maybe things can be okay, eventually … someday in the future.

Or, at least, more okay than everything is right now.)
