Reunion

Disclaimer: Not mine. Doggett's POV.
Have you ever seen a man (or woman) who has fought in a war, and won, when they first leave their ship and go straight into the arms of someone they love? I did just today. Oh, it was a war not many knew was being fought, but it was a war alright. And we won, by God, we won! The bad guys aren't gone yet, but Agent Mulder is back, and to me, that's all that matters.
Why is that? Why is the return of an agent I never really knew, and had never heard too much said in his favor so important? It's because of her, her, Agent Dana Katherine Scully. In the year or so that I've worked with her, she has become my world, and her world is Mulder. Sad, but true. We've spent the past year bickering, bantering, arguing, and searching. She hated me at first, and she probably still isn't too fond of me, but Mulder's back, and the world is set to rights.
They say true love is two halves of one set into two different bodies. I beg to differ, because I have seen true love, and there is no halves in it. It's more like two working together to become one, you know, like when you attach a battery to a lightbulb by way of wire. Take away either the battery or the wire, and you got no lighted bulb. It's just like that. Mulder and Scully aren't two halves of one whole: without one, the other can still function. I should know, I worked with one. But it wasn't...peak efficiency. Choppy, like a part was missing. That part's been found.
You know, I've never been one for family reunions. But after today, seeing the reunion of two people who love each other heart and soul, I think I'll start going back to mine. You gotta hold on to the ones you love, 'coz if you don't, what else will you hold?
