Lord of the Flies.
Sometimes, he wonders why he bothers. Honestly, it's just too much work. Everyday building it up, breaking it down and than building it back up. It just isn't worth it.
Well, maybe it is. Maybe it isn't.
The Mask has its pros, of course. Especially when it's time to flunk missions, he can whine and just dump the mission on the newbie. Not like he does anything, all he does is collect hearts, so Demyx is really just… helping him along that path.
He can laugh, cry and be cruel with The Mask. With The Mask he can no longer 'feel' shame or be embarrassed. The Mask allows him to be the fool, the layabout, the do-nothing. But most of all, he can be The Musician.
He likes 'being' The Musician the best. He can play his music as well as he did before the Darknes-
No. He doesn't want to remember that. What he was like before.
The Mask also has its cons. Sometimes, only sometimes now, The Mask slides and he is The Nobody. When he doesn't play for the music but plays to destroy everything in his way with water, drowning everything underneath him. The others will gasp and wonder why does he put time and effort into the mask, when he is as emotionless as the rest of them?
Why would Demyx like to be like them? With their stupid sweet-as-honey coated, cruel-as-a-whip words and their stupid fake smiles and pretending 'emotions'.
The Mask can do that for him, with The Mask, he can be the biggest pretender of them all.
Sometimes, he wonders why he bothers as he plays a dreamy, sweet, empty tune on his sitar.
He tried to convey the compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up.

I'd really like some feedback to this, because I'm totally suck at writing.
Demyx belongs to Square Enix. The Name and Quote from the end is from the Amazing book by William Golding.
