More than anything, I hate the sound.
That incessant rocking, it drives me insane. At this point, the wounds have healed, the experiences have dulled, and I can't go anywhere, so that damned sound of water slapping hull is what occupies my thoughts at night. You can't escape it, you can't nullify it, and you can't silence it. Pillows, earmuffs, even the closets don't work. I'm starting to think the problem isn't so much that I can't stop hearing it, it's that I'm feeling it too. Having two sets of ears doesn't help either. Some of the other passengers claim the rocking helps them sleep, but I've had enough constant motion for two lifetimes. Nothing about being part cat, nothing about what happened in Vale, it's just this...fucking rocking that I can't sleep through. Maybe some fresh air will help...
I was partly right. I don't feel sick anymore, but the sound is only louder. I guess I'm okay with it, as long as I'm not trying to sleep. The breeze feels quite nice, compared to the sauna temperature they keep the rooms at. I asked the captain on the first night about it, and he said the warmer rooms helps the normal people sleep through the night. Keeps Grimm uninterested, he said. Not sure I buy it, but the big one today was the first in this trip, so maybe it is working. Who knows?
I guess it's not that I don't miss my team, so much as I don't like to think about them trying to get along outside Vale. Yang should be fine. Best guess is she's at home on that island. Patch, I think it was. Ruby wouldn't stay put, I'm sure. There's a chance she's still with her sister, but her righteousness will more than likely get the better of her. Weiss is for sure in Atlas. She's the only one I don't know about as far as next moves are concerned. I don't think she wants to be there, our talk about the White Fang seemed to indicate that, at least. Honestly I think she's safe enough, and anything more is worrying too much. Of course, the question applies to me as well.
"What's your next move, Blake?"
"Huh?"
"Well the way I see it, you have the whole world in front of you. Menagerie has bad guys to sort out for sure, but you've made it clear you're not going after the Fang, so what gives," Sun questioned from the shadows leading below deck.
"I...I'm not sure. I was just thinking about the others."
"Team RWBY? They'll be fine, I'm sure. Well. I don't know, maybe not Yang for a while, but-"
"Sun, don't."
"Ohhhh, so we're going for somber silence, got it."
Anyways, I guess-
"Nope, can't do it."
"Sun, I just...look I don't know, alright? I'm thinking about it. Can I just have some time to myself?"
A little surprised at the politeness, Sun complied.
It's still no better. I won't be able to sleep...
Well...maybe I can...
Blake went back below deck, still without a plan, but with a path she could follow for a little while.
Blake slept soundly.
