They almost didn't realize it when the rain began to fall.
Anthea was the first to notice, arching an eyebrow as she turned her palm towards the gray clouds hanging above. She watched as a minuscule drop of water fell onto her upturned hand and flattened itself against her skin.
"Mycroft, it's raining," she told her boss, who was walking down the sidewalk with her.
"Drizzling," he corrected.
However, the small splatters of rain turned to bigger drops, forcing the pair to shelter underneath the awning of a sidewalk cafe. Anthea scrolled through her phone's emails and texts for a time, her companion standing beside her. Finally, the last text had been replied to and Anthea pocketed the phone with a sigh.
"We need to get moving, sir," she told her boss, who was swinging his beloved umbrella slowly back and forth.
"It's raining, Anthea," he replied, still looking straight ahead.
"You have an umbrella," she pointed out, gesturing at the aforementioned item. "Why don't you use it?"
Slowly, he glanced down at his umbrella, as if realizing that he even had one.
People hurried around in the rain that day, all trying to dodge the drops of water. However, one umbrella was now serving the needs of two.
"Pretty good idea, am I right sir?"
"Not bad, Anthea...not bad."
