You were always pulled towards him. Whether it was where you sat at dinner or where you suggested you and your friends sit in the common room. Always subconsciously you needed to be near him, you fooled yourself when you were given prefect status that you were keeping an eye on him and his friends. But now, you realise that you were the only one you fooled. Your friends would smile knowingly to each other when you turned your back to walk towards the sofa near the marauders. The teachers smiled whenever they saw you come down for breakfast and stroll towards which ever end of your friends was nearest to him.
Even when you two fought, you never realised how in sync the two of you were. Never realised that one of the reasons that the crowds were attracted to the verbal abuses was because of the way you two reacted to each other's words and movements. Never realised that whenever you hurled an insult his way; you would cautiously take a step forwards, testing whether he would forgive you. Never realised how he would subconsciously open his body out to you.
When you both became Head Boy and Girl, you reacted to each other so much; sometimes the power of it scared you. The way he would move forward when you moved back, the way you would cross your legs if he did so, and when you walked together down the dark corridors on patrol, your pace would sync and your arms would swing together in harmonic unison. It was on these patrols that you realised that it was not only his looks that attracted you towards him, his personality that shone through his eyes, his deep voice, and the chuckle that would escape before the smile which stopped your heart. It was on these patrols that you realised that for years you had been defying the inevitable, defying gravity.
