Chapter 1: The Orphanage
Elias Gruber Orphanage in Mauville City, Hoenn… one of the most shittiest orphanages around the outskirts of Mauville. It's run down, looks old as dirt, and doesn't have air conditioning. Seems like a hellhole to anyone that just hears the review about it, but once you've been there for awhile… it's still a hellhole.
When you walk in, you're greeted with a reception desk and usually a Pokémon is there waiting to have you signed in to make sure you actually signed something to have your kid be left at an orphanage legally. They'll also ask if you want your parental rights to be terminated or not.
As you finish signing up, you'll be taken around the reception desk and into a hallway that leads to a door. Behind the door lies the main room of the orphanage. You could call it the "social area." There's some bean bags that already have Pokémon resting in them, there's a couple of small tables here and there, and there's a bunch of little kids in the area.
To the left of the room is three arches, each lead to a different room. The one that's closest to the corner of the room is the bathroom area. The middle one is the sleeping area and the last one is the toy area. To the right of the social area as you walk in is two double doors that lead to the dining room which has a kitchen behind it.
Each room is equally big in size and the orphanage has grayish-blue walls and a white roof. Both look torn up and the paint is coming off and there's a blue rug that goes from the main entrance into the social area, then into the sleeping room, but not the toy room, the bathroom, and the dining area. There's also a secret room somewhere where the workers go to relax and stuff. The orphanage is usually noisy as well.
Now that you have a general idea of what the Elias Gruber Orphanage looks like, let's get into the story.
A little Riolu was sitting in the corner next to the toy room arch as he watched the run down door that led to the front of the orphanage. It opened as a Simisage walked in followed by a Rapidash and its little Ponyta. The Rapidash crouched down to the Ponyta's level and spoke words that the Riolu couldn't hear. The Rapidash stood high on its hooves and walked out of the door, then the Simisage proceeded to kneel at the side of the Ponyta who now displayed a look of worry on its face. It was as still as a stone as the Simisage talked and started pointing at the arches of rooms, basically giving an introduction of the orphanage.
The Simisage's name was Simon. He was probably the nicest Pokémon worker around here, he's kind and gentle with everyone. Simon speaks in a soft and soothing tone that could make you fall asleep if he were to read you a bedtime story. His voice isn't loud, but normally quiet.
He soon stopped kneeling and stood up to attend with other children. The Ponyta still stood at the same position but was observing the room with fearful eyes. It locked eyes with the Riolu and shyly shuffled it's feat over to him.
"Um… hi…" The Fire Horse Pokémon greeted in a quiet and feminine voice.
"Hello." The Riolu greeted in a monotone and masculine voice. "You're gonna ask why I'm here, right?" He assumed as he closed his eyes.
"W-what? H-how did you know that I was gonna say that…?" The Ponyta asked in full shock.
"Lucky guess." He answered, pulling his knees to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. He opened his half lidded eyes.
"Oh…" She whispered, still in shock. "Wait… you don't have those little things on your arms!" The Ponyta pointed out.
The Riolu simply nodded. "Yep, I was born without them."
"Does that have any part as to why you're here?" She guessed.
"Yep, my mom and dad were perfectionists. Every day was spent with me studying this and me practicing that, I never had any friends because of it. I was taught to never speak to those below me, as in smarts. My parents freaked out when they saw that I didn't have the metal bumps on my arms, but they came to a conclusion that I was just a late bloomer and would soon get them when I got older. As time went on and I'm at the age of eight, we went to the doctor for a checkup and the doctor told us that I was born without any metal and when I evolve into a Lucario, I'm not gonna have the Steel type. The look on their faces was unforgettable too, they had such shocked expressions and their mouths were wide open that it was picture perfect.
"I didn't think that was a problem, or I wouldn't of, hadn't it been for the fact that I knew what my parents wanted from me…" The Riolu finished, sighing.
"Oh my… well that's not very nice of them! Parents should always love their children no matter what!" The Ponyta interrupted, all riled up.
The Riolu scoffed, "they sure did love me winning things for them to brag about to other parents." The Riolu added.
"You didn't have any friends?" The Fire Horse Pokémon asked.
"Friends? No one wanted to be near me. Look, Ponyta, being smart is a curse and a gift. Sure, you can get good grades and you can get far with knowledge like academically and stuff, but all in all, no one wants to be with a Pokémon who makes them feel stupid." The Emanation Pokémon concluded.
"Surely you had to talk to those Pokémon to do group activities like projects… right?" She asked, hoping he'd say yes.
"I use Pokémon, Ponyta. They're just stepping stones to me, and I'm the one that's walking on them one by one. Everything I do is a part of some plan of mine. I'm always thinking of ways to utilize others in ways that benefit me. Sure, I could help them in some small way, but that only follows along with my plan. I'm only looking out for me, in some way, shape, or form. I'm always gonna be the one that's highly benefited.
"This is what being smart at a young age could do to you, Ponyta, so make sure that you don't plan on being the smartest in the world, cause being a genius is only a level above being a psychopath." The Riolu explained, staring dead into the scared Ponyta's eyes, keeping a straight face the whole time.
"But aside from all of that, we never introduced each other. I'm Cyrilo." Said the Fighting Type, introducing himself.
"I-I'm uh… Fiona…" The Ponyta stuttered.
"Nice to meet you Fiona, how old are you?" Cyrilo asked her.
"Um, nine… you?" Fiona answered
"Ten." Cyrilo simply responded.
"I thought you'd be older to be honest, from the way you talk." Fiona nervously chuckled, not stuttering anymore.
Cyrilo looked around the room to look at the other Pokémon then looked back at Fiona. "I forgot to ask you, why are you here?"
"Oh… my mom told me that she couldn't take care of me at the moment because of some issues, but she did say that she would come back as soon as possible!" Fiona glowed in excitement. "Wait, so you were eight whenever you got here and now you're ten… you've been here for two years?"
Cyrilo just nodded, "when I first got here I just wanted to be alone and not have anything to do with anyone, but once I got bored after the first year of isolation, I started to plan things in my head to see how I could escape. Now this year, I'm definitely going to leave this hellhole for good." He answered as he stood on his toes.
"W-Wait what?! You're gonna try escaping?!" Fiona asked bewildered as she took a step back.
"Mhm, you might wanna find a group of Pokémon to befriend to bump up your chances, it's the only way you have a surefire chance of escaping." Cyrilo explained as he started walking away. "See ya later, Fiona, I'll give you a heads up whenever I'm about to escape."
As Cyrilo started walking away, Fiona stood in the same place with shock written all over her face.
Cyrilo started walking over to the other side of the room when he heard an argument taking place to his left. When he turned to look, he saw a Zorua, a Croconaw, a Murkrow, and a Quilava. The trio of Pokémon were standing in front of the Zorua. The Quilava, which could be assumed as the leader of the group, had a smug grin on and so did the other two. The Zorua bared her teeth, ready to attack at any moment someone makes a wrong move. Well that's not good. Cyrilo thought as he realized who those three Pokémon were.
"I already told you, get out of my way!" The Zorua yelled at the three Pokémon in front of her.
"Listen, doll, you need to learn who's spots belong to who, because this spot right here is where we were gonna sit, so could you do me a favor and move your sorry ass out the way?" The Quilava asked, not threatened at all by the pissed off Zorua. She got even more angry and her right paw was unsheathed, revealing little, sharp claws. She was about to use Scratch.
The Zorua took a step forward then was about to swing before Cyrilo ran up and parried the Scratch with his right foot, surprising the Zorua. He twirled around to face the Quilava.
"Don't attack her, Henry, she's with me." Cyrilo said to the Quilava who kept his smug grin.
"Learn to control your pet, Cyrilo, or else I might just have to take her from you." Henry warned as he and his two other followers turned around and headed somewhere else. Cyrilo sighed and looked behind him to find a really angry Zorua. Welp… time for even more yelling. He thought.
"Why did you block my attack?! I was about to scratch that fucker's eyes out!" The Zorua screamed at Cyrilo.
"Look, you may not know it, but he's way stronger than he seems. You wouldn't stand a chance against him." Cyrilo said.
"Grr, I didn't ask for you to help me, you bitch!" The Zorua cussed at him.
"Hm… what's your name?" Cyrilo randomly asked.
"Huh? It's none of your business, so screw off!" She avoided.
"I'm gonna guess it's either Piper or Penelope." Cyrilo guessed. This caught the Zorua by surprise.
"Wait… what? How did you…"
"Lucky guess." Cyrilo answered as he shrugged. The Zorua couldn't believe it one bit. This amazed her. "Well, I'll see you around Piper. I'm gonna call you both until you respond to the other one." Just like that, the Riolu turned around and walked off to the toy room, leaving behind a very confused Zorua.
I bet it's Penelope. Cyrilo thought as he walked into the toy room. The toy room has bright white walls and a colorful mess of a floor. The floor was made of puzzle pieces and they were fluffy and fun to play with. The wall when you walk right in had a bunch of toys on a shelf for anyone to grab and play with. There were already a bunch of toys on the floor so most of the toys on the shelf were gone.
Cyrilo found a Dragonite playing with a Buneary and a Chatot. That Dragonite was named Audrey. She was a worker here and has shown leadership and kindness to everyone. If she sees anyone acting out of line she'll get on them as if she were their mom.
The Buneary looked past Audrey and stared into Cyrilo's dead stare. She started trembling as she couldn't take her eyes away from his. Audrey noticed this as she looked at the Buneary's shaking form.
"Something wrong Angela?" The Dragonite asked in slight worry. The Buneary shook her head as she kept on staring at the Riolu in fear. "You sure, sweetie? You're shaking…"
"I-I'm fine, Miss Audrey…" The Buneary lied. Miss Audrey followed her gaze, as well as the Chatot, and turned around to see Cyrilo standing near the entrance of the toy room.
"Cyrilo, nice of you to stop by! Why don't you come over here and play with us for a little bit?" Miss Audrey joyfully asked. Cyrilo took his eyes off of the Buneary to look at the Dragonite and nodded.
As he was walking over to the small group, Audrey was describing Cyrilo. "Angela and Davide, Cyrilo is one of our smartest orphans yet! He can solve any sort of conflict easily!" She praised him.
Cyrilo sat down next to Miss Audrey. "So, what were you guys discussing about?"
"I was just asking about why they're here." Miss Audrey replied with a smile.
"Oh okay. Buneary and Chatot, what's your guys' names?" The Emanation Pokémon asked the two Normal types.
"My name's Davide." The Chatot chirped.
"I-I'm A-"
"Angela, right?" Cyrilo guessed spot on.
"Y-yes… how'd you know..?" Angela worriedly asked.
"I overheard Miss Audrey say it." Cyrilo answered. The Buneary mouthed an "oh" and looked down in thought.
"Wait a minute… you don't have any of those things coming out of your arms?" Davide realized.
Cyrilo lifted up his right arm and showed it to the Buneary and Chatot. "Yeah, I was born without them."
"Wow… I didn't even realize that could happen." Davide admitted, sort of surprised of this.
"My parents didn't think so either." Cyrilo added. "Besides that, you said that you were just talking about why they're here. Right, Miss Audrey?" He asked as he turned to the Dragonite.
Miss Audrey returned back to reality as Cyrilo asked his question. "Hm? Oh yeah, we were!"
Cyrilo nodded. "I want to know why you two are here as well." The Buneary and Chatot both exchanged looks. They both looked back at Cyrilo as the Chatot opened his beak.
"Well, I'm here because my parents aren't… uh… financially stable? Whatever that means, so they can't take care of me right away. But they promised me that they'll come back and retrieve me once they have everything sorted out." Davide happily told. Cyrilo nodded and Miss Audrey smiled brightly at him.
"Um… my mommy put me here because my daddy is being abusive right now and she didn't want me to see or get hurt…" Angela revealed.
"Aww… I hope everything gets sorted out with your parents, Angela." Miss Audrey sympathetically wished as she gave Angela a loving hug.
"I wish the same." Cyrilo added, looking at the two hugging.
"So, why are you here, Riolu?" Davide returned the original question.
Cyrilo diverted his attention to the Chatot. "I'm here because my parents don't want me anymore." Angela, who was still hugging Miss Audrey, heard this and turned her head at Cyrilo.
"W-Wait… your parents don't want you anymore…?" She sadly repeated what she heard.
Cyrilo nodded, "yes, it's because I'm, how should I put it, deformed?"
"Ms… what does dee-formed mean?" The Buneary sounded out as she looked back up at the Dragon Pokémon.
"Deformed means that a Pokémon doesn't have a normal body part. For example… imagine me without having any wings." Miss Audrey started to explain.
The Buneary closed her eyes and imagined what she was told to imagine. Her face scrunched up a little as the image popped in her head. "Ew… I don't want to imagine Miss Audrey without wings ever again!"
She giggled at this. "Yeah, that's a an example of a deformed Pokémon."
Angela's face turned serious as she was thinking of something. "Wait… so does that mean that a Riolu not having any patches or whatever is not normal?"
"Mhm, that's right." Miss Audrey confirmed.
"But… wait… he still looks normal though…" Angela pointed out.
"Well… some deformations aren't as bad as others. Like, me without wings is bad because I can't fly, but if I was missing a claw it wouldn't be that bad." Miss Audrey explained.
"Ohhhh." The Bunny Pokémon understood.
"Except this is bad because this affects my typing." Cyrilo added in
"How so?" Davide asked.
"Well, a Riolu is a Fighting Type and a Lucario is a Fighting-Steel Type. The metal patches that normal Riolu have change into spikes that normal Lucario have to represent the Steel typing. Without the metal patches I can't have spikes when I evolve so I can't have the Steel Type." Cyrilo explained, leaving Angela and Davide in amazement.
"Told you he was smart." Miss Audrey spoke up, giggling to herself a little.
"How do you know so much?" Davide asked in astonishment.
"I up until I was eight I studied a lot of stuff. I know way more than a ten year old should know, by far." Cyrilo answered easily.
"Wow… your parents must've been really strict then." Davide guessed.
"Yeah, they were very strict on what I did. They were controlling my life from the start." Cyrilo told the small group.
"That's awful…" Davide spoke as Cyrilo was finished.
"Yeah… you must've not been able to do anything…" Angela said as she was now sitting in Miss Audrey's lap.
"Don't fret over my past, you don't need to." Cyrilo waved off.
"Miss Audrey..." Angela spoke up as she tilted her head up to look at her.
"Yes, hun?" Miss Audrey asked, tilting her head down to look at Angela.
"Um… when are we gonna eat? I'm a little hungry…" On cue, Angela's stomach started rumbling. She blushed in embarrassment as she looked down trying to hide her face. Miss Audrey giggled at that.
"We're gonna eat…" Miss Audrey lifted her left arm, on it was a watch that fit nicely on her wrist. It was digital too. "...in about an hour or so."
"Okay, thank you." Angela said as she rubbed her stomach. Cyrilo's appendages on the back of his head risen as he sensed an Aura at the entrance of the arch. The Aura felt hot. Must be Fiona. Cyrilo guessed as his appendages went down. He sighed as he looked at the group of Pokémon in front of him.
He looked behind him and saw Fiona standing there. He raised his right paw and made a "come here" gesture. She understood and shuffled her hooves over to where he was sitting. Miss Audrey noticed the Ponyta next to Cyrilo.
"Who's this?" Miss Audrey asked, getting the attention of both Angela and Davide.
"Introduce yourself." Cyrilo told Fiona.
"I'm Fiona and I've just recently got here, nice to meet you guys." Fiona introduced herself.
"I'm Davide, nice to meet you too." He nonchalantly introduced.
"I'm Angela… hopefully we can become friends!" Angela squeaked. Fiona smiled a little as she looked at the Buneary and the Chatot. Cyrilo felt another Aura by the entrance of the toy room arch. The Aura felt violent and forceful. It's probably Piper from earlier. Cyrilo thought as he turned his head around. It was in fact the Zorua from earlier. She was just standing there and watching the groups from afar, not wanting any part in it. Cyrilo tilted his head a little bit, but she just turned around and left.
"Um… who was that? They seemed really scary…" Angela asked, shuttering a little bit. She was laying on Miss Audrey's right leg, peering from around her waist.
"That was just Penelope, she may have a nasty mouth but I believe that she's a good girl deep down." Cyrilo believed.
"Well… I guess I'll go with your belief as well." Angel brightfully said.
"If you're ever gonna talk to her, try not to offend her in anyway. She'll burst out on you." Cyrilo warned the Buneary. Angela leaned back as her ears did the same, not liking that warning at all.
"M-maybe I'll just leave the talking to you…" Angela decided as she was shaking a little.
"Noted."
After a couple of minutes of idle conversation, it was time for dinner. All of the kids were piled in the social area as they were waiting for the dining room to open. It was pretty noisy as each Pokémon was either complaining or just having a conversation. Cyrilo was in the back with Fiona, Davide, and Angela who were on Fiona's back.
"Can you see anything?" Fiona asked from below the two.
"No… I'm not tall enough!" Angela squeaked as she tried jumping to see over the lot of Pokémon.
"I'm gonna try and fly to see if I can get a better view!" Davide chirped as he started fluttering his wings. He flew a few feet above from where he was perched on Fiona's back.
"Can you see anything?" Fiona asked the Music Note Pokémon.
"Yeah I can… seems like we'll be waiting here for awhile…" Davide reported as he started descending slowly.
"Aww… but I can't wait for awhile…" Angela complained. Cyrilo looked behind him and wondered where Miss Audrey went. She probably found a way over the crowd and into the safe haven of the dining room. Just then, something black and red was scooting past the waiting Pokémon and trying to make their way to the front. They tried to past Cyrilo, but he grabbed its tail and held it in place.
"Hey, let go of me!" The Pokémon yelled, or rather, Penelope yelled as she tried to wiggle free of Cyrilo's grasp.
"Nope. If we can't get to the front, then neither can you." He said as he held onto her bushy tail.
"Well that sounds like a you problem doesn't it?!" Penelope fired as she stopped trying to resist.
"Listen, Peanut, I'm not letting you get in front of everyone else if we can't get there either." Cyrilo established.
"My name's not Peanut! It's Penelope!" The Zorua yelled out loud by accident. She realized her mistake a second after and turned her head away I'm embarrassment.
"Oh, so your name is Penelope. I knew it too." Cyrilo uttered to himself.
"Hey Cyrilo, who's that you're holding?" Fiona asked the Fighting Type as she looked at him.
"Oh her? She's Penelope, a Zorua." He answered as he spun Penelope around to face the Ponyta. Penelope has a slight blush on her cheeks as she didn't look up.
"Hi, my name's Fiona!" Fiona introduced herself, brightly.
"I'm Penelope…" Penelope mumbled, saddened.
"Why're you sad?" Fiona asked worriedly.
"This asshole knows my name…" Penelope responded.
"Well… he is very smart." Fiona added.
"Still doesn't change anything." Penelope said, sighing deeply.
"Why don't you want Pokémon knowing your name?" Fiona pried.
Penelope slightly looked up. "I hate Pokémon, that's why."
"Oh… sorry for asking…" Fiona apologized as Penelope put her head down. Everyone was still waiting in the social area as no progress was being made.
Cyrilo was still holding Penelope by her tail. She still looked sad as she didn't tell Cyrilo to stop. He raised his arm high above his head so that he could look at Penelope's face.
"Please put me down…" Penelope whispered.
"To be honest… I think you look cuter whenever you aren't sad." Cyrilo complimented honestly. Penelope grew a blush on her cheeks as the twisted to look a different way.
"Shut up…" Penelope whispered. She didn't expect for Cyrilo to compliment her like that. She kind of liked it, but obviously wasn't going to admit it.
"Can I call you Penny? Even though Penelope is a rare and cute name, It'd be easier to just call you Penny, dontcha think?" Cyrilo asked. Penelope blushed even harder as he complimented her once again.
"Y-Yeah… I agree with you." Penelope stuttered. "You can… call me Penny…"
"Great to know." Cyrilo said as he lowered Penny onto the ground. "You're free to go now."
Penny turned and look at Cyrilo questioningly. "W-what do you mean by that?"
"You can go to the front of the line now." Cyrilo explained.
"But what about you four? Are you guys sure that you'll be alright with waiting for so long?" Penny concerningly asked, her voice a little higher than her normal one.
"Aren't you supposed to be worried about yourself and not give a shit about me?" He asked randomly.
"Why would you think that…?" She asked him.
"Well, you did two ninety degree turns on me. First you were acting mean, which is naturally you. Then you act all emo and now you're nice." Cyrilo listed.
"Oh… I don't know… how do you want me to act then…?"
"Is that even a question? I want you to act like yourself. 'Cause that's better than having a mask on." Cyrilo responded truthfully.
"Okay then… asshole." Penny commented, in her normal voice. "I'll see you later, Cyrilo. Take care, bitch." Penny ran through other Pokémon as she made her way to the front of the room. Cyrilo looked at Fiona's back and saw that Angela and Davide were resting peacefully, not bothered by the noisy room at all.
"You okay with them sleeping on your back?" Cyrilo asked Fiona.
She looked up at Cyrilo. "Mhm! They're not bothering me at all." He nodded at that.
The giant group of kids started moving up slowly, making small progress to eating.
"I wonder what they're doing back there… I'm starting to get really hungry…" Fiona complained, her stomach rumbling a little.
"They're probably preparing for the giant amount of kids wanting to eat. I don't remember it ever getting like this, maybe once or twice but that all happened in the same month last year." Cyrilo responded.
Soon, the doors opened and the kids ran into the dining room. The dining room itself was massive, probably as big as a high school's cafeteria, maybe even bigger. It was white and had a lot of bright lights lined on the ceiling. There were a bunch of round tables for the Pokémon to relax in. Also, the stand to get food was pretty long. It's also a surprise that this orphanage has decent food.
Cyrilo tapped on the snout of Angela and tapped Davide's beak. "Wake up you two, time for lunch." They both fluttered their eyes before opening them slightly. They looked around and realized they were in the dining room.
"Finally… I can't wait to eat!" Angela energetically claimed.
"Yeah I agree." Davide spoke. Fiona trotted ahead of Cyrilo with him following her.
They made their way up to the counter and one of the lunch Pokémon set down four plates. Two were smaller than the other two.
"Ooo, ooo! This looks delicious!" Angela exclaimed as she was deciding on whether to destroy her food right now or wait a little bit. What was on the plate was some Poffins with a few berries, specifically Oran berries, a juice carton and an orange frosted Poké Puff.
Angela grabbed her tiny tray along with Davide's while Cyrilo grabbed his and Fiona's.
"Where should we sit?" Fiona asked the group as she looked around the dining area. She wasn't surprised by how quickly the seats were already taken.
"We can sit in the social area, come on." Cyrilo informed as he lead the group to the social area. Once they were in, they looked around to find the social area almost packed. Cyrilo looked around the room and saw a familiar Zorua in a corner, munching on her food. "This way."
The group made it over to Penny, who was nibbling on a brown frosted Poké Puff.
"Sup, a-hole." Penny greeted Cyrilo as he sat down.
"Hello to you too." Cyrilo greeted back as he set down Fiona's tray in front of her. She gave a little "thank you" to Cyrilo as she began munching on her Poffins. He began to eat his Oran berry first.
"Who are these guys?" Penny asked as she was nibbling on a Cheri berry.
"They're my friends that I met earlier today. The Ponyta is Fiona, the Buneary on her back is Angela, and the Chatot is Davide." He answered, grabbing a Poffin and chewing on it. Fiona nodded in agreement as he got the names right.
"So… Cyrilo… how exactly are you going to escape from this orphanage?" Fiona curiously asked the Riolu.
"Wait! You're trying to escape?!" Penny asked, bewildered by this news. This got the attention of both Angela and Davide as they stopped eating to listen to this
Cyrilo looked at the puzzled Zorua and nodded. "Yes, I'm trying to escape from here."
"But, why?"
"Because I've been here for long enough. Two years in this hellhole is enough for me to want to get out." Cyrilo explained.
"What if they catch you though?" Penny questioned.
"I have a multitude of situations planned in my head for when things go south." He answered.
"Are you sure you wanna do this, dude?" Davide asked to make sure.
"Yes. I am."
"When will you escape…?" Angela wondered.
"I don't know exactly when. Not everything is set yet." Cyrilo answered.
"Well what'd you need?" Penny asked.
Cyrilo looked dead into her eyes. "I need you, that's for sure, and I need four other Pokémon."
"Well, you have some right next to you." Penny pointed out.
"No, they have parents who will come back for them, I need Pokémon who don't have parents coming back for them and are willing to escape." Cyrilo denied.
"But… how do you know if I have parents coming back for me or not?" Penny quizzed Cyrilo.
"What were your parents like?" He randomly asked.
"What? You ignored my-"
"Just answer it."
"Okay then… my parents were always abusive and always found something to blame me for. They'd always curse at me and they weren't nice at all! Fuck, I hate them so much!" Penny vented, not realizing it. "Oh, whoops… my bad, heheh…"
"Well, there's my evidence that your parents won't come for you." Cyrilo stated, making Penny think about it and realizing it a second after.
"Damn it!" Penny quietly cursed.
"I'll ask again, do you want to escape with me? You can say no if you don't want to." He offered as he finished his Poffins.
Penny looked down in thought. She picked her head back up and looked at Cyrilo. "I'll escape with you."
"Perfect." Cyrilo said as he drank his juice.
"Well… I hope you guys succeed in your plan…!" Angela cheered happily.
"Same here, hope you guys make it out safely." Davide agreed.
"Mhm, me too!" Fiona spoke up.
This got a smile out of Penny. "Honestly… with Cyrilo I feel like things will go smoothly." Penny said as she looked at Cyrilo.
"Thanks for believing in me." He said. Cyrilo felt three harmful Auras come close to the group. He turned around and saw Henry, along with the Croconaw and Murkrow that follow him everywhere. The Croconaw's name was Austin and the Murkrow's name was Gavin. Neither were smart to think for themselves.
As they came closer, Cyrilo stood up and walked in front of the group that was eating. They all looked at Cyrilo curiously, wondering where he was going. They saw Henry and instantly knew why he was standing in front of them.
"Hello Cyrilo." Henry greeted slyly.
"What do you want, Henry?" He asked, getting straight to the point.
"Oh, it's just that… you and your group is bothering me by sitting there. Would you mind moving out of the way." Henry told Cyrilo more than ask him.
"And why should I do that? We're just sitting here and eating. We're not at all doing anything to disturb you." Cyrilo defended.
"Fucking asshole…" Penny said loud enough for Henry to hear.
"Oh I see that you have that little bitch with you? Didn't I tell you before to control her? She's being very improper." Henry told Cyrilo, purposely trying to anger Penny. He succeeded in doing that as Penny bared her teeth, growling at Henry.
"The only one that's being improper is you, Henry. You're telling us to leave a spot that doesn't even belong to you."
"Hmph, it sure is no fun when Pokémon resist…" Henry whined, puffing out his cheeks a little.
He whistled and Austin stepped forward. He opened his jaw and his teeth became more sharp, he was about to use Bite. Cyrilo prepared himself as he was forming a plan in his head.
He'll most like take a step and jump, aiming for my head. If I can sidestep then grab his arm and throw him into wall, he'll be done for. Cyrilo planned in his head. He shifted his right foot in a position to quickly move and went into a defensive position. As Cyrilo thought, Austin took a step forward then lunged for Cyrilo's head. He sidestepped and as Austin was flying past him, he grabbed his left arm and threw him near where Henry and Gavin were standing. He flew past the Quilava and Murkrow and went into the wall.
As his body made contact with it, there were little cracks that sprouted from the hole where his chest hit hardest. Austin peeled off the wall and flopped onto the floor, laying there all defeated. Just then, two Pokémon bursted the dining room doors open. It was a Bisharp and a Houndoom.
"What's going on here?!" The Houndoom demanded. He saw the Croconaw on the ground and rushed over to him. "Is that Austin? What happened to him?"
The Bisharp came over and looked at Austin, the hole in the wall, then at Cyrilo. He connected the dots and tapped on the Houndoom's shoulder.
"What is it, Noah?" He asked. The Bisharp pointed at Austin, the hole in the wall, then at Cyrilo. The Houndoom understood, then growled as he looked at Cyrilo.
"Damnit Cyrilo! The hell did you do to Austin?!" He grilled.
Cyrilo shrugged, "I just threw him into the wall. He attacked me first."
"Grr, that doesn't mean you have to throw him into the wall!" He barked.
"What, you wanted me to get my head chewed off? Noah, you can agree with me on this. You know about this stuff too." Cyrilo defended as he looked at the Bisharp. He put his metallic gloves up as if saying, "don't bring me into this."
The Houndoom listened for Austin's breathing and found out that he was. "At least he's unconscious and breathing… the hell were you thinking?!" The Houndoom demanded.
"I was thinking about defending me from getting attacked, Hunter." Cyrilo answered. Hunter groaned loudly and by this time everyone was looking at the scene. Henry and Gavin were still by them, keeping their distance.
Oh right, Hunter and Noah. They're also Pokémon who work at the orphanage. Noah, a Bisharp, who doesn't say anything at all. He might be mute, but no one knows if he is or not. Maybe he doesn't like talking. Noah isn't the type of Pokémon to pick fights when he's pissed off, nor does he lose his cool in any stressful situation.
Now onto Hunter. He's a rude and grumpy Houndoom. He's mean to everyone and when he walks into the room, no one wants to look at him because he's always scowling at something or someone. To add to that, there's nothing really special about him besides that he had a father who never spoke to him and didn't even say "I love you" once, not even to his wife.
Hunter picked up Austin and took him into the sleeping area. Cyrilo turned to Henry and Gavin, who looked back at him.
"Don't worry Cyrilo… I'll get you one day…" he whispered malevolently as he and Gavin turned around and left. Everyone went back to their own conversations as Cyrilo sighed. He turned to look at the group and they were amazed.
"I've never seen someone move so fast before…" Davide spoke first.
"I've never seen someone take down a Pokèmon so fast…" Penny added. Cyrilo shrugged as he walked over to the group and sat down. He picked up an Oran berry and ate a piece of it.
"Did your parents teach you how to fight, Cyrilo?" Fiona asked.
"Mhm." He responded. He swallowed the piece of Oran berry and began to speak, "they thought it was essential for me to learn how to fight well at an early age. I thought it was a good idea and I'm glad they did." Just then, Ms. Audrey came out of the dining room doors and hovered her way over to Cyrilo. She had a stern look on her face that didn't look pleasing.
Once she arrived, she stopped hovering and landed in front of Cyrilo.
"Cyrilo! Why did you throw Austin into the wall?!" Ms. Audrey grilled.
"He was gonna bite my head off." Cyrilo simply replied, eating the rest of his Oran berry.
Ms. Audrey sighed in frustration. "You are something else… at least he wasn't in too much pain, or else you would've been in serious trouble, Cyrilo."
"Yeah, I know." He said as he picked up his orange frosted Pokè Puff and took a small bite out of it. "Hm… not bad."
"Dude, how many times will it take for you to stop hurting those three?" Ms. Audrey asked defeated.
"As many times as it takes until I can get out of here." He answered, looking at Ms. Audrey with serious eyes.
"If you can escape in the next three days, I'll do whatever you want me to do for the rest of my life when we find each other again." Ms. Audrey offered.
"Huh?!" The rest of the group asked, baffled by what Ms. Audrey was betting.
"And if I don't escape?" Cyrilo asked, intrigued by this bet.
"Well if you don't escape… then you'll have to do whatever I say for the rest of your life. Sound good?" She answered as she grew a sly grin on her face.
"Wha?!" The group questioned.
I would've never thought I'd make such a risky deal. Cyrilo thought. I kinda like it.
"Deal." He agreed to the bet. Ms. Audrey let out her claw, and Cyrilo shook it with his paw.
"Good, I don't think you can escape from here. We may be orphanage workers, but we're still strong and have our ways."
"I don't doubt that you four are strong, but I've scoped our this plan from the moment I was here and made many mental notes on where I could escape from."
"We'll see about that one, buster."
"Wait… um… what day is it?" Angela hesitated.
"Today's Tuesday." Ms. Audrey quickly replied.
"So by Friday you'll have to escape or else you'll do whatever she asks of you…" Fiona concluded.
"Oh I meant the end of Friday, not Friday morning." Ms. Audrey cleared up.
"Oh, that's good news." Davide sighed.
"You could still have it as 12:00 AM Friday morning and I'd still be able to escape before then." Cyrilo seriously stated.
Ms. Audrey cocked her eye at this. "Well, since you wanna be so cocky, how about I change it to 12:00 AM Thursday morning?" Ms. Audrey questioned the Riolu.
"Sounds good to me." Cyrilo agreed to the change of terms, surprising the group.
Ms. Audrey snickered as she started flapping her wings, making her lift off the ground. "Don't be mad when you can't escape."
"Don't be complaining when I escape."
Ms. Audrey flew into the kitchen and Cyrilo ate the rest of his Pokè Puff.
"Dude… what the hell did you just agree to?" Davide asked Cyrilo.
"I just agreed to a bet."
"But… the things that were being betted though…" Angela brought up.
"It's fine, believe me. I wouldn't easily give up my freedom if I didn't have a plan." Cyrilo waved off as he stood up and stretched. "Welp, it's almost time for us to get to bed, it's about a good time as ever to find a good spot in the sleeping room."
The group looked at each other then back at Cyrilo. They stood up and went over to Cyrilo.
"You guys can find a comfortable spot, I'm gonna throw our trays away." He told the group. They nodded and walked in, journeying to find the best spot in the whole sleeping room.
Cyrilo walked into the dining area and set down the trays where they get their food. He turned around and bumped into someone. He backed up and looked up at who he could've bumped into.
"Oh, hello Jasper, Travis, and Cole." Cyrilo greeted to the Zangoose, Seviper, and Rampardos. All three of them were bigger than Cyrilo and they were all thirteen years old, just three years older than him.
"Jasperrrr, he bumped into youuu… should we take care of him?" The Seviper strung out as he raised his body to look more intimidating.
"No need Travis, stand down." Jasper told the Fang Snake Pokémon in a low and cool voice. "Hello to you too… Cyrilo."
"I was just putting my trays away, didn't mean to bump into you." Cyrilo said as he tried to walk past the Cole. The Rampardos stepped in front of him and Cyrilo looked up as Cole looked down.
"Alright… what do you want, Jasper?" Cyrilo asked.
Jasper came up behind him and whispered, "I want the Zorua that you've been talking to."
Cyrilo turned his head and flared at Jasper with his right eye. He bared his teeth, "if you even think about touching her I'll hurt you in a way you've never been hurt before." Jasper snickered as well as Travis and Cole.
"Aww, what's this little bitch gonna do, tickle me? Hahaha! Don't make me laugh, little shit." Jasper warned as he grabbed Cyrilo's head and threw him back. Cyrilo quickly backflipped in the air and landed on his feet, skidding back a little. He lifted his head up to see the three larger thirteen year olds ready to beat him up.
"You really gonna fight me? You'll get in serious trouble if you do." Cyrilo pointed out.
Jasper laughed, "oh man… you think I actually give a shit whether I get in trouble or not? It's not like they can beat me up anyways, I'm a kid!"
He does have a point… Cyrilo thought as he observed the three Pokémon. I could intentionally get them to fight and hurt me… but they might do some serious damage in the process so no thanks… Jasper cracked his knuckles. Guess I'll just have to evade their attacks… he decided as he continued to stand there.
"Heheh… I'm gonna beat the shit outta you!" Jasper declared as he ran forward. Travis and Cole quickly ran to catch up to him.
Wait a minute… shouldn't Jasper and Travis not be together…? Cyrilo asked himself as he saw Jasper charge up what looked to be a Crush Claw attack. His claws became hard and sharpened and hardened as he leaped into the air.
Maybe that's why Jasper's always standing up. His instincts are telling him that there's a Seviper nearby and that he should attack but he doesn't. I wonder why… Cyrilo thought as Jasper was coming down and ready to slash at him. I think I can use Counter against this attack… although Substitute then Quick Attack into a Force Palm might do the trick, but then Travis and Cole will surely have the jump on me. So I'll just settle with a Substitute then Shadow Claw. Cyrilo decided as he jumped back and summoned a fake Riolu. Jasper came down and slashed at the fake, destroying it in the process. Cyrilo ran forward as his right hand started to form into a dark and purplish claw. He jumped and slashed at Jasper, making him fly back a few feet and slid across the ground.
Travis and Cole ran past their leader and were going to attack together. Travis ran ahead of Cole and opened his mouth. He started belching out a bunch of acid at Cyrilo, but he jumped out of the way.
Shit! Cyrilo thought as he realized he jumped into Cole's path, and he was about to pay the consequences of doing so.
Cole was charging at Cyrilo, his blue domed head started to glow brighter.
Is he about to use Zen Headbutt? No, his head would be glowing pink… so is he about to use Head Smash? If he does that then I'm done for… shit… Cyrilo thought as he watched Cole charge at him with full force. Just then, something punched the side of Cole's face, making him launch into the lunch stand and crash. Cyrilo was able to land on his feet and looked at who punched Cole.
The person who punched him was Noah. Cyrilo looked at who was behind Noah and saw Ms. Audrey, Hunter, and Simon. Cyrilo looked eyes with Ms. Audrey, who signaled for him to go the sleeping area. He nodded and walked out of the dining area and across the social area to the sleeping area.
Once he entered he looked at all of the sleeping Pokémon until he found his friends sleeping together, not sexually, and silently walked over to them. Once he arrived at the site of his friends, he found a spot and laid down. He closed his eyes for a little bit and tried to fall asleep but couldn't. He felt someone still awake and wondered who it was.
He opened his eyes and rolled onto his stomach. Cyrilo looked and Penny and Penny looked back at Cyrilo.
"Shouldn't you be asleep right now?" He asked the awoken Zorua.
"I could ask you the same thing, asshole."
"Well I have an excuse, I was putting our trays away. What's yours?"
"I was… I was just having a little trouble sleeping, that's all." She answered.
"Well then what's on your mind? We could chat about it for a bit." Cyrilo offered.
"Sure, I guess." Penny whispered, taking up the offer.
"Alright, so tell me what's up."
"Well... I'm just wondering about us escaping. How are we gonna escape? What plan could you possibly have and will it get us caught?" Penny asked confused.
"I see… but I have a plan. The way we're gonna escape is by knocking out whoever's keeping watch and going through the door that leads to the are in the front, and the plan that I have shouldn't get us caught. Now we'll escape through the front door. No one expects someone to escape through the front door, because well… it's the front door." Cyrilo explained to Penny.
Penny looked down in worry. "But what if we get caught or hurt? I don't want to get in trouble… and what if your plan doesn't work? Then what? Oh, this is hurting my head!"
Cyrilo put his right hand on top of Penny's head and rubbed it, catching Penny's attention. "Listen. I'll one hundred percent protect you from any danger that comes your way. You can put your worries aside, cause I'm here to take them away. Just for you I'll make sure this plan goes smoothly, so rest easy tonight." He promised, giving Penny a rare smile.
Penny smiled back, "okay, I will… thanks, asshole." Cyrilo laid back down as Penny laid down next to him.
Tomorrow's gonna be the day we escape, March 11th here we come.
