(A/N): Hi! This is my first time writing about Sammy and I hope you like it! :) It's going to be a short story, so maybe 6 to 10 chapters? Maybe more if people like where I'm going with this.

CONTRAST

Prologue

Sammy Anderson sighed to herself as she walked down the main hallway of Wawanakwa High. Every day was the same routine. She would wake up, go to school, learn, be treated like she was a worthless piece of trash, and then cry into her pillow once she arrived home.

As she headed down the hallway, there were two paths to take. She turned to the left.

Sammy cradled her books closer to her chest in order to somehow give herself a comforting hug. She knew she needed the comfort because there were a lot of problems in her life. The main disturbance in Sammy's life was her sister, Amy. Actually, they were twins. It was no surprise that Amy was always the favourite. She would earn medals in everything, and Sammy always found herself in second place. She didn't mind her place on the podium most of the time… She just wanted to be important and influential like Amy.

Sammy could feel the tears forming. She shook her head, refusing to cry in the middle of a busy hallway. She already knew that her chosen role was to be the 'forgotten one' and it was hurtful. She truly realised her role the moment when her parents forgot her in the bathroom at the gas station when she was only ten years old. It was a horrible memor—

"Amy!" a voice interrupted Sammy's thoughts from behind. "We need to go and practice our cheers!"

Sammy turned around. The girl who had finally caught up to Samey frowned once she realised it wasn't Amy.

"Oh. It's just you, Samey…"

"It… It's Sammy," the twin corrected as the girl walked away. She didn't seem to hear her.

Sammy quickly wiped the tear which had just escaped her left eye. She didn't want anyone to catch her crying because Amy often spread rumours about her. One of them was that she was an attention seeker, and she didn't want her tears to confirm that rumour.

It was a normal routine to be mistaken as Amy. As twins, their appearances were similar, yet their personalities were a complete contrast.

However, Sammy just continued walking. It was officially Friday afternoon and school had just finished, so at least she would be able to make it to her pillow in the next hour. The sad part was that she didn't think she could hold in the tears for that long…

Deep inside, she knew she could never live up to Amy's expectations, and that's what hurt her the most.
