To all my readers who read Falling in love with an Assassin, I know I haven't updated yet. It may take me a couple more weeks, but don't worry it's coming. This is my first oneshot. It started of as a school assignment but I was lacking names so I used Pokemon ones and voila! It turned into a Oldrivalshipping oneshot.

Disclamer: I don't own the names or the places.

"Commander Shinji, Commander Shinji, come in. Shinji, where are you?" Gary jumped as the radio unexpectedly crackled to life, spilling his coffee all over his new suit. Curses.

"Trainee 1563 here, Paul- I mean Commander Shinji is not available, but I can pass on a message."

"Trainee 1563, we have urgent business, please get Commander Shinji immediately. Commander Hayden out. Ketchum! Don't touch that!" Gary bit his lip. Help. Paul was currently at Pearl Harbour, testing a new model of Flight Bombs.

So that was why Gary was flying halfway across the Pacific in a tiny SPAS3 Sphere. SPAS3 Spheres were missile powered balls built to adjust to any amount of pressure, any temperature. They were built for the survival of the human race. Each Air Base was given 3 for emergencies. As Gary reclined in comfortable baybeds, he wondered if this counted as an emergency. He wished he could finally be promoted Commander, like his best friend, Paul. But he knew his ties with Leaf would restrict him from ever becoming one. Sure, he probably was twice as intelligent and competent as Paul. But his inability to let go of the past restrained him from being the best he could be. He recalled the summer before the last, before he was recruited.

When Gary met Leaf he knew she was The One. His OTP. The beautiful, cheerful teenager was perfect in everyway. Sure, she was secretive to the point of suspicious, and sure, she was OCD for cleanliness. But she was perfect. From her long brunette hair to her emerald green eyes, to her melodic voice. Gary had even begun to feel nauseous from jitters by the time he had fallen on to knee to ask her The Big Question. When she had rejected him, he couldn't understand. He had expected her to be ecstatic. To joyfully hug him and declare, yes, she did was to spend the rest of his life with him. To be bonded to him for eternity.

"Longitude -59.062500, Latitude +30.145127. Approaching destination." Gary was jolted back to the real world. Rushing to the control room, he steadied the SPAS3 Sphere.

"Landing Mode activated. Prepare for landing. Please turn of all airectronices." He checked out the window. A pang shot through his heart. He first met Leaf at Hawaii in an abandoned bomb shelter. Not too far from here, Gary thought. He had found out the truth on a training course at Hawaii.

"Leaf! What are you doing here!?" Leaf looked terrible. Her hair was half shaved off and she was decked out in prison wear. On the outside she was smiling, but her emerald eyes gave away terror and fear. The instructor spoke.

"This is Leâfįa Grène, daughter of Herän Grène."

"Herän Grène?" Gary gasped. He was the leader of the Krefœg, the Resistance's enemy. Krefœg was threatening to overrule the world through force. Leaf gave a bitter smile.

"I'm sorry, Gary."

"What do you mean, you're sorry!? Do you have any idea what I went through!?"

"Gareth Oak!" The instructor interrupted me mid-rant."You will not converse with our shooting target." Gary felt dizzy. Shooting target? "Today we will shoot a real live human. We need to make sure you have enough guts to stomach it. Gareth! Since you and Leâfįa are getting along nicely, you can shoot her first." Shaking, Gary slowly picked up the rifle. Loaded. Aimed. Pulled the trigger. Crack! A shot was fired into the sky. Gary staggered back.

"I can't do this." And black...

"Emergency mode activated. Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for crash."

"Whaa-?" In his last moments, Gary saw the blur of the shoreline, then sand, then nothing..
