Momentum

As soon as the green Survey Corps hood fell away, time seemed to come to a halt. Nothing did move, no sound was to be heard. Even the patter of rain had faded away. The pale face that was staring back at her was so familiar, and yet at the same time, unrecognizable. Unseeing eyes. Ghostly skin split open and covered in dark blood. Black hair flatted by rain and mud. This face, she knew it so well, and yet...

"Levi?"

Even her own voice seemed to have muted. Or maybe she couldn't hear herself. Perhaps it was because of all those thoughts whirling around in circles, endless and endless and endless spinning around without coming to an answer, a logical solution. Perhaps it was those voices, yelling at her, crying, screaming for her attention.

Her eyes trailed down. And then, with the slight rise and fall of his chest, time began to move again. The patter of rain, the howling wind, the running river next to her, her own heartbeat—

Time once again began to flow, accelerating until it passed by at frightening velocity.

But Hange held on and didn't let go.

Another small fic for chapter 115. I just can't get the image of Levi's wounded face out of my head D:

All the mistakes are mine.
