The girl was shedding tears as she left the beautiful region she knew and loved. All her friends were waving goodbye, and her surrogate parents. She wished she didn't have to do this, but it was the only way. The girl's name? Lillie.

Yes, Lillie, the girl who had endured years of abuse under the hands of her psychotic mother, Lusamine. Yet here she was now, cradling her sleepy mother on her lap; the inverse of when Lillie was little.

Her departure from Elio? Easily the hardest hitting of them all. This was the boy who she loved. This was the boy who had encouraged her to stand up for herself. This was the boy who had inspired her dream.

The pier was now just a petite speck on the horizon. Lillie sobbed. It would be a very long time before she saw Elio and his Incineroar again. The Incineroar that would always put an arm around her protectively whenever she felt upset or angsty.

Lillie thought that she would go to bed at that precise moment, to sleep off her worries, bringing Lusamine with her.

"It's alright, Mother." Lillie whispered to Lusamine, who had been asleep for 6 hours, but a metallic tear was cascading down her face.

8 hours later, dawn broke. The Kanto region was on the horizon. An elderly man was standing on the pier, waving his arms about.

'Charon!' he cried. 'How did that mission go?'

'Great, Samuel. I've escorted the girl and her mother over.'

'Excellent!'

Lusamine had just opened her eyes, muttering, 'Nihil…Nihil…Mohn…'

'Ssshhh. It's okay. We're in Kanto now.'

"Your brother Gladion informed me of your plight, and I would be more than happy to assist. But you'll need protection from the wild Pokémon. Especially in Mt. Moon. I sent a boy to fill up the Pokedex and he was lost in there for three days! If you see him, do ask how my grandson is. Anyway, there are three choices of starter Pokémon. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle."

Lillie thought long and hard. They all looked so cute! But she had to make a choice.

"I choose you, Charmander." Lillie proclaimed.
