Horo was laying in bed, even though he knew he should get up. He had training to do, and Ren would not like to know he was sleeping in. Nonetheless, he found himself still in bed, eyes closed, when he heard the door open.
"Boro?" It was Ren. Horo twitched when he heard Ren use his derogatory nickname, resisting the urge to correct him. He continued to feign sleep, if only to show him he wasn't the boss. Besides, he told himself, he would get up; just a few more minutes was all he needed. Besides, if Ren knew he was awake, he'd get a horrible punishment. If he pretended to be asleep, Ren might just yell a little to wake him up.
Ren's footsteps told Horo that he was coming closer. Did he really have to walk all the way over just to yell at him? Horo braced himself for some sort of attack. The silence was stifling. What was he hesitating for? Was Ren watching him, maybe for some sign that he was faking? Horo was trying to stifle his nervousness when he thought he felt Ren's breath against his cheek. He really would get up. Really, he would. Then Horo felt a warm, almost wet pressure against his forehead. he couldn't help but open his eyes to find out what it was.
Ren lifted his head again to see the wide eyes of Horohoro. It took a few seconds for the realization to set in that he had seen, and felt, everything. Ren's eyes grew wide and his face turned scarlet as he drew back, his words tumbling over themselves as he tried to deny everything. "I-! Y-you never saw anything!" Ren, in a panic, grabbed his spear and swung at Horo, then fled out of the room.
When Horo gained consciousness later, the scar was the only thing that proved that that morning's events had been real.
