A/N - This is very, very short. Sorry about that. It was just hanging on my computer. I think it would explain the awkwardness between them on The Mallepisode.

Summary - Set in the end of the Rainyday Woman. Marissa comforts Ryan. Short oneshot.

Disclaimer - I don't own anything.

The Arm Around Me

Ryan felt comforted by the hand on his shoulders.

This was something he would never have guessed. Marissa was helping him by just being a friend.

Maybe everyone were right. When were they ever friends?

God, he was so happy about the rain. His eyes were wet, and not just from the rain. He stared straight into the ocean, not wanting to meet her eyes.

He felt a shake go through his body. He felt cold.

At least I still feel something, he thought. He wasn't sure what to think about Lindsay. She was the most sweetest person he'd ever met. And the most caring. And the most loving...

What went wrong?

It's all my fault, he decided. That was the mantra, that most likely was the truth.

An another shiver got through his body. He hadn´t noticed how Marissa had rested her head on his shoulder.

It felt good.

There were no place he would rather be. Or maybe with Lindsay.

She wasn't doing anything wrong. She was just comforting a friend.

Marissa felt shivers under her arm. Ryan was so cold.

She rested her head on his shoulder and tried to warm him up.

She had only one guess of why he was there. Ryan and Lindsay had broken up. Didn't Lindsay knew how much he cared?

Marissa knew that Ryan would brood for a long time. He would plame himself for everything, not talking to anybody about it. Because that's how he was. He was Ryan Atwood, the master of broodish. Marissa didn´t actually knew why she liked Ryan so much. Maybe it was his look, or sense of mind. Or his obsess to be her hero. Anyway, she liked him.

But she was with Alex. With a girl she loved. Or did she? Life with her wasn't actually glamorous.

I should walk him home, she thought. But she didn´t want to. She didn´t want this moment to end.

If you'd be gone

I would imagine you

I would draw you

To my mind so lonely

Now I want to thank you

That you're not only a dream

Ryan turned to look at Marissa. She did the same. They looked at each other for a long moment, before leaning closer. Their lips met and they let themselves for a passionate kiss.

They stood there for a while, before Ryan seperated them. He looked straight into her eyes.

"I'm sorry," he murmured under his breath.

"Don't be," she whispered, meeting his gaze.

Quickly, Ryan turned around and started to walk away. Marissa just stood there, not moving.

"Don't go," she whispered in to the rain.

When I'm gone

You hope I'm coming back soon

You can't get a hold of me

No matter how far you reach

It's time for you to realise the truth

We were never meant to be together

And I'm never coming back
