An Eternal Love

Mina Harker stood on the deck of the Nautilus, breathing in the salty sea air. The morning sun shone, illuminating her copper-red hair. Her bright blue eyes shone with intensity and her white shirt and black skirt slightly blew in the ocean breeze.

She was very bored now. She read all of her books she brought with her ages ago. No event has happened that she felt the need to write in her diary. She always could talk to somebody, but whom? Nemo pretended that she didn't exist. Allan had his own matters to take care of. She didn't feel like listening to any of Skinner's filthy insults. She was getting tired of Dorian constantly flirting with her, and Jekyll always kept to himself in his room and never saw the light of day. Sawyer was shooting his stupid gun, and there would be the Devil to pay if she interrupted that.

Her problem was solved; she heard the door to the deck with a loud bang. She turned around to see, to her annoyance, nobody. She knew it was Skinner.

"Hello there, beautiful lady" Skinner's voice greeted.

"Is there a reason you're here, Skinner?" Mina asked, trying not to sound too polite.

"Aren't we a little testy this mornin'? What's on your mind?" he asked sarcastically.

"No, and what's on my mind doesn't concern you. Besides, you made me lose my train of thought." Mina grumbled.

"How did I interrupt you? Was it my good looks? My handsome charm? My cunning abilities?" Skinner said, playing with Mina's hair as he said the last bit.

"Would you knock it off!" She whipped around and bared her vampire fangs at thin air. She stood there for a few seconds, waiting for something to happen. As soon as she felt Skinner's hands on her butt, she quickly punched at the air, and felt her hand come in contact with something that felt like his jaw.

"OW! Bloody hell, woman! Skinner yelled angrily. Mina smiled in triumph.

"Skinner," Sawyer's voice came from the doorway. "That's not a way to treat a lady."

Skinner grumbled and Sawyer and Mina heard the metal door slam. They waited as they heard his footsteps fade inside the ship. Sawyer stood beside Mina.

"I'm curious, Mr. Sawyer. How do you know how to treat a lady?" she asked him with interest.

"I could show you how if you give me a chance" Sawyer replied. She faced him as he gave her a flirtatious smile.

Mina thought for a moment. She smiled back at him. "Then show me," she whispered as she drew herself close to him.

Suddenly, Sawyer wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him. When their lips met, they could both feel fireworks. Mina entwined her fingers in his wavy blonde hair. The passionate kiss lasted for what seemed an eternity.

Eventually, she pulled away from him. His arms were still about her waist. They both smiled at each other.

" I love you, Mina, ever since I first laid eyes on your angelic face" Sawyer said with seriousness. "I will do anything to win your heart."

Mina gave a slight laugh, not of sarcasm or annoyance, but happiness. "You already have won my heart," she said. "I have loved you too, but I thought you wouldn't want a vampire."

"Nonsense, you know how bored I would be if I didn't fall in love with a vampire?" Sawyer said.

They then were silent as they faced the wide-open sea. They stood hand-in-hand, and they were eternally happy from that moment on…
