Olivia's eyes drifted once more from the pre-cal equations she was supposed to be solving and settled on to the little brown bear perched next to her book. The pink heart sewn between his paws with the words "You're sweeter than chocolate" embroidered into it teased another smile from her lips. Sneaking a sly glance to the red haired teen sitting across the table from her, she put down her pencil and reached for the little box of candies propped against to the bear. Wordlessly she poured the hearts little candy hearts on the table between them, studied them for a moment before selecting one. Instead of popping the confection into her mouth she smiled shyly at her companion, who had looked up at the sound of the box being opened, and slid the candy across the table with one finger until it was in front of him. She watched his brow furrow in confusion as he reached for the candy and held it up to read it.

"HUG"

The puzzled expression vanished and a pleased smile reached his hazel green eyes. Smirking at her, he slipped the candy into his mouth then began his own search of the other little hearts. Finding the one he wanted he mimicked Olivia's earlier action and slipped it before the blonde girl.

"heart OF GOLD"

Olivia blushed slightly and laughed as she bit into her candy.

"MY HERO"

The red haired teen's flush matched Olivia's as he looked for his next one.

"CUTIE PIE"

Olivia chuckled while struggling with her embarrassment.

"BE TRUE"

The red haired teen would have responded aloud but a glance at Olivia's grin challenged him to search among the candies for his reply.

"URA STAR"

Olivia dove into the rapidly diminishing pile for her next one, giggling as she passed it over.

"RISING STAR"

The boy laughed loudly and nodded his agreement.

"YOU RULE"

Olivia offered a slight bow in acceptance giggling at her own corniness.

"AND"

The teen stared puzzled for a moment, seemingly unsure how to respond to the little green heart that stood between his fingers. Finally...

"MY GIRL"

Olivia blushed once more as she cradled the little yellow candy in her palm. She gazed at it, wondering if she dare respond. She studied the few candies still laying on the table and decided to take the leap.

"ASK ME"

The red head appeared to have stopped breathing for a moment, and Olivia wondered if he was ok. He hesitated a moment before he made his move.

"BE MINE"

Olivia sat still, gazing at the boy who had just all but asked her out with conversation hearts. She smiled demurely at him as she delicately placed the little pink heart in her mouth.

The few remaining hearts, like the evocative words imprinted on them, remained untouched and lingering for the future between them as they returned to their studies.

Ok its short and sweet, and even works as a stand alone little drabble if you've never read "GAMES". And no, I haven't abandoned the Lemonade Bubbles story I'm in the middle of. I don't even have writer's block as the chapter is half written and completely outlined for completion. What I have is a case of frustration with my writing platform since until just recently it was crashing every time I started to type. The platform has been updated and the bugs fixed but the frustration remained. This is the first piece written since the update and its seems to have the desired effect and is renewing my enthusiasm.

So in honor of St. Valentine's Day I give you "Conversation Hearts". It popped into my head last night and wouldn't leave until I wrote it. There are a couple of messy sentences that I dislike but if you can think of alternative ways to write them PLEASE! let me know. Enjoy. -Mika :-X
