Happy (early) birthday, Megan! This killed me, so you better enjoy ever word of it.
Prompt: Lilith finds out Klaus's birthday and decides to celebrate.
"Truth or Dare?"
Lilith grinned as she stepped up behind her favorite hybrid, winder her arms around his neck. He tipped his head back to look up at her with a soft smile, letting the pencil in his hand fall flat on the table. "You know what I always choose, Love."
Her grin widening, the vampire leaned closer to look down at the sketchpad on the table. "What are you drawing, monsieur artiste? It kind of looks like something that Edward Hopper would have painted…"
"Only it's a sketch, and it's not of a mostly empty bar." Klaus rolled his eyes before looking up at her again, shaking his head. "I was going for more of a Renoir effect."
With another glance down at the sketchpad, she shrugged and reached for the pencil. "You're doing the hair wrong. If the light is hitting her like this, then her hair shouldn't be this dark…" Taking a step forward, Lilith drew the eraser down the dark markings of the figure's hair. "There."
The hybrid stared at the sketch for a moment before looking up at her with a shake of his head. "You ruined my drawing."
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said with a slight grin, turning and bringing her lips down to his for a soft kiss. He pulled her down into his lap and Lilith shook her head, pulling back with a giddy laugh. "No no no. I know exactly how I'm going to make it up to you; c'mon." Klaus frowned when she stood and grabbed onto his hand, rolling his eyes as she dragged him toward the kitchen. "Don't roll your eyes at me, Nik, I know how to hit you where it hurts."
Narrowing his eyes, the hybrid sighed and walked a bit faster so he could wrap his arms around her waist. "You were being a tease."
She cast a grin back to him as she shrugged, pulling his arms from around her as she walked over to the pantry. "Eggs. Water. Vegetable oil. You like chocolate, don't you?"
With a wide smile, she held up a box of chocolate cake and Klaus immediately froze. She knew. "Who told you?" he demanded with a low growl.
"Elijah," the vampire said with a shrug, glancing over at the fridge. "Were you going to get the rest of the ingredients? Or am I on my own?"
*BC*
Elijah frowned in confusion when he heard laughter originating from the kitchen. Klaus's laughter. Why would Klaus be laughing? Last he'd checked his brother was still overly doom and gloom, especially on his birthday. Venturing further into the house curiously, he froze in the doorway to the kitchen.
Half of the flat surfaces in the room were covered in a thin layer of chocolate cake batter, and there was half of an empty egg shell on top of his hybrid brother's head. "What the hell happened in here?"
Lilith let out a giggle and shook her head, brown powder from the cake mix raining down from her hair. "We were making cake… I believe the term we're searching for is… Oops?"
"Oops?" The Original asked incredulously, slowly scanning the room again. "It looks like something exploded in here."
With a hopeful smile, the dark haired vampire stepped forward, holding out a dark red kitchen towel. "You'll clean up while we go get cleaned up, right?" Pausing for a moment, he took the towel and looked around the kitchen again. "Thanks 'Lij!"
Klaus came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, leaning forward to kiss her cheek. "Yes, thank you, Elijah."
Before they can get halfway up the stairs, Lilith turned around to face him with a smile, their lips meeting for less than a second for a chaste kiss. "Happy birthday, Nik."
