Welcome to Persona 5: Collision. A story idea requested by Shiranai Atsune. Although this means that P6: BOTC's progress will be slowed, I'm still working on it at the same time. Also, title subject to change. I pretty much made it up on the spot. Anyway, enjoy! Cheers :).
Friday/April 14th, 20XY/Evening/Amemori Station
Makoto Niijima stepped off the bus and onto the unfamiliar grounds of the small and remote town of Amemori. She looked up to the sky to see that the sun was almost finished setting, the diverse palette of warm colors fading and leaving a much darker sky in its wake. Makoto reached into her black leather over the shoulder bag and pulled out her cell phone. Once, the screen transitioned from a pitch black emptiness and into the bright ostentatious wallpaper of the lock screen, she could see that the time shown was already 7:03 PM. She sighed with fatigue after being stuck on that bus for hours to get from Tokyo to Amemori and pocketed her phone in her bag. Makoto looked to her right to realize that most of the few passengers that were on the same bus as she had already, cleared out and were gathering their baggage from the storage section on the side of the bus.
"This yours, miss?" A middle-aged man asked her, presenting her with her luggage. Makoto was then facing the driver of the transportation vehicle used to help her arrive at her destination. His face was extremely wrinkled and chiseled, his skin an olive color. He had an unlit cigarette in his mouth dangling off his bottom lip as he spoke. He wore a pair of thick-rimmed black glasses, a white collared dress shirt, a pair of white gloves, a pair of black pants, brown dress shoes, and the typical bus driver's cap to signify his occupation.
"Yes. Thank you." Makoto bowed slightly for respect for the man as she took her luggage from him. The man tipped his cap to her and turned around to help the other former passengers.
Makoto took out her phone again in order to see if her grandparents had sent her any messages; her phone was on silent after all. 7:05 PM. However, this time something unusual happened after Makoto attempted to turn off her phone. Instead of the screen going completely black like its supposed to, stereoscopic text slowly faded onto the screen, overlapping the phone's lock screen. The text read, Are you ready? With two options underneath reading either, Yes or No. Deciding it was probably some sort of scam or pop-up add, Makoto selected No and the screen went back to normal. She then put her phone back once more just after turning it off. Although it was surreal to see a popup add on a lock screen, it was the only explanation for the time being. Besides, the Metaverse was destroyed a whole year ago. There shouldn't be anything to worry about. Makoto found it odd how she caught her mind automatically thinking of the Metaverse when seeing something like this.
Fun fact: Amemori is a town I made up based off of a real-life town in the Japanese Alps called Takayama. Look it up, I'm not allowed to post links in here or it will be accounted for as spam or something. Also, I was pondering whether I should've made Akira or Makoto the main character but I decided on Makoto just to spice things up a little. Akira and the rest of the Phantom Thieves will come into the story later. Not all of them will have important roles though.
