In a grassy field located at the outskirts of civilization stood a small girl, she was shivering uncontrollably as she blew into her small hands; it was futile effort but still she persisted.

Tears were falling as they stained her frozen cheeks, she fell down onto the soft ground as she attempted to stifle her cries of pain till she began weeping openly no longer afraid of strangers overhearing.

She's been a very well behaved child, a little mischievous maybe but what child wasn't? She lost and no one had tried to help her no matter how much she begged or pleaded for them to; most dismissed her and she stayed cold and hungry as she wandered the streets alone.

Now she was homeless, a forgotten child but even then on the streets she'd had occasional company and now she was alone; being alone meant being weak.

Sobbing now as tremors shook her body she lay down in defeat, she'd submitted to the deadly cold.

Abruptly her eyes wandered at the scenery as she desperately tried to blink the tears away, the moon was now in her view and it shone as a beacon of gentle hope.

Knowing the moon was harmless she felt safe under its gaze, she was being watched and protected; as such naturally she sat up and gazed at it before she fell asleep and surrendered to the comforts of sleep.

As she slept she dreamt of happiness and as she did the cold wind blew her long auburn hair along with its melody.

Sleep had taken her for a long time but eventually it freed her, she finally opened her now hopeful eyes to the sky above.

There was no moon, sitting up she felt the crushing fear of being lost as her memories awoke with her.

Warmth radiated from the sun as her mind shifted to darker thoughts that lingered deep inside;

How was she going to get back home? Were her parents searching for her? Will they ever find her, would she ever get back home?

Just as her tears began to resurface a sound caught her attention; it was a gallop.

Looking up her eyes widened in awe, it was a huge deer bigger then any she'd ever seen on TV and it was the colour of gold.

Something drew her towards it, as an invisible force that pulled her and combined with her natural curiosity she walked towards it without a hint of fear; soon she was face to face with the animal and yet it showed no aggression nor hostility.

Reaching her delicate fingers forwards she was surprised at how soft it's fur was, soon she was playing and laughing till the deer lowered itself as it nuzzled it's head against her face; she climbed it's back.

Riding the deer was fun and she could feel the sun at her back before the beautiful animal began to run straight into the woods, she attempted to stop it but to no avail as she watched helplessly her new home disappear.

Eventually the deer stopped, she was scared; she knew nothing of how to get back to the field and she was sure it was far away now for they'd been running for a long time.

Bowing once more the deer lay there silently, she was scared of being left behind as the animal was now her only companion but bracing herself she finally got off.

Gazing at her for a while the deer began to glow, mesmerized she watched as he changed to a man.

The man glowed; he was graceful looking and had long curled golden hair, sapphire eyes, sun-kissed skin and lovely pink lips but all she noticed were his hands which were stretched out towards her.

Staring at him for a while she finally gathered her courage to speak.

''Who are you?''

The man smiled gently before answering her. ''Why I am Apollo the Sun god, the most talented archer in the world. Who are you?''

Thinking for a while she eventually smiled at his answer, he was a friend not a stranger.

''I am Anne Bonnet, but because were friends you can call me Anne or Annie''

He smiled wider at her, then suddenly a frown seemed to mare his expression.

''Do you have any parents Anne?''

''Yes, but I got lost and I can't find them'' She was fidgeting, she always did when she was about to cry.

Understanding, the man lowered himself so he was sitting across from her before he changed the subject. ''How old are you Anne?''

''erm, six but I will turn seven in June'' Confusion showed on her face at the question, she decided to ask him why he wanted to know.

He simply shrugged. ''I was curious that's all, I can take you back to that field if you want''

''Yes please, my parents will find me there'' She was hopeful, it showed as her eyes were brimming with it.

Soon she was being led back out with Apollo back to the field, he was slower this time as she fell asleep on his soft coat; she was so happy to have a friend.

When they'd reached however he bid her goodbye before disappearing into the woods; feeling alone she wanted to cry again before she lay down on the soft grass and once more allowed herself to sleep under the watchful gaze of the moon as her hair succumbed once again to the wind's will.

So I'm rewriting this story after so long; I'd appreciate opinions and thoughts on the new version,
