I wrote this for colorfulmiku, but I hope whoever else decides to read it likes it! Enjoy.
I stare out the window, watching the rain drops hit the dark pavement and make numerous puddles in the school's parking lot. I sigh.
I don't like lunch period.
If I had become friends with everyone in this school who admired me, I would be the most popular girl in school. But I didn't come here to make friends. I don't fancy having pointless convorsations about other girls or sports or the weather. I came here for the reason that everyone should come to school. I came to learn.
Don't get me wrong. I know the importance of having friends. However, ever since I left my parents' house and moved into an apartment in Tokyo in order to attend this private school, I haven't been making friends. I still see my old friends- I hang out with them when they come to Tokyo to shop. But I have no new friends.
Not that I need any. It's just that I can't find anyone to have an intelligent conversion with. So I sit, eat, and work alone. And it gives me a lot of time to think; to dream. I enjoy it greatly. But there are some people who are set against not letting me have my alone time.
And one of those people is the blue-eyed, teal-haired, handsome-faced Mikuo Hatsune.
I swear he knows that I have a slight crush on him. He's in all of my classes. He gets the same grades as me. We work together of mandatory partner projects, and we occasionally have educated conversations that I treasure greatly. However, recently, he has been hunting down me to talk to me.
"Hey, Megurine-san." I hear his familiar voice greet me. I twist around in my chair, my light pink hair swaying on my back and my blue-grey eyes focusing on him.
"I told you that you can call me Luka-chan." A mutter quietly as he sits next to me.
"Ah, yes. Sorry, I'm a bit preoccupied with.. something else." He breaks our eye contact. I use this moment to admire the layers and layers of deep blue in his eyes. He looks back at me.
"Let me guess. A bunch of guys have asked you to go to the summer dance with them?" I nod, moving my hair out of my eyes. "And you rejected them all?" I nod again.
"I didn't know any of them." He laughed that rich, genuine laugh.
"Then would you like to go with me?" I feel my face heat up.
"I guess that would be fun."
"Perfect!" He stood up, turning away from me. "I've got to go to my locker now. You know how far that is!" He starts to take a step, but I speak up.
"Before you go... Is this a... date?" He turns around, his face a deep shade of red.
"I-I'll text you later, Luka-chan! Really gotta go!" He runs off, leaving me there, dumbstruck and blushing. I shake my head, returning to my bento.
He's smart... But that doesn't change the fact that he's a dork.
