first love doesn't disappear
casualty fanfiction.
He's sat in his study alone, a pen in his hand and the paper in front. Dear Jessica, he begins to write but stops because he doesn't know what to write next. Jessica is his ex wife. The woman he hadn't seen in five years. Their child, Harry died tragically and pushed them apart, before that they were happily married.
Dear Jessica,
How are you? Has life changed much for you? How are Amelia and Lucas? I don't work for Holby anymore, I left about three years ago. That place held too many memories for me, I decided to start afresh. I got a Consultant job in London, it's great!
He pauses, takes a sip of the water on his desk and continues; I've remarried too. Fay she's called, she's a wonderful woman, really supportive. She has three children, two boys and a girl. We're expecting a child together, a girl, Lucia she's going to be called.
I don't want you to think this child replaces Harry because nothing will. I still think of him day in day out. I still blame myself for not getting to him quick enough. If I had, would we still be together? Or, would something else just push us apart?
Well, I don't really have a lot to say. Really, I just want to get everything off my chest. I hope you're well.
He ends the letter with his name and a single kiss. He knows he won't send it, he does this every year or two on what would've been their wedding anniversery. He's grateful Fay doesn't seem to mind, he's really luck to have her, he thinks. He scrunches up the letter and throws it into the bin with a sigh.
He's lost in thought, oblivious to the fact he's not alone. A pair of arms wrap around his neck and kiss the back of his neck. He smiles against her touch. Every day, they both help each other to leave the past exactly where it belongs, and that's what makes them a great team.
They understand each other, it's that simple.
