One day Mammy brought home a dirty skinny cat named him Nato. Everyone neglected him when he stuck around in street searching for food, except Mammy. She took him home out of sympathy and thought he could be a good company for Tom. Nato was washed clean and treat nicely as a beloved pet cat like Tom. Soon he grew as robust and Tom, too. He almost forgot the bliss of being treat like a pet. He swore to be a dutiful cat for the home.

Jerry noticed the new comer and thought Nato was just another cat like Tom. Feeling bored in mouse hole, Jerry sneaked out to play tricks on Tom and Nato as he did to Tom and Spike. Jerry thought it might be interesting to see two cats fight each other. He hits Nato with a shoe in the head and pointed to Jerry when Nato turned to Jerry. Jerry chuckled to himself but soon recognized something was wrong. Before he could realize it, Nato's hands were reaching him. He was caught by Nato before he could run to his hole.

Tom heard the move and ran to the two.

"What are you doing! Let that mouse go!" Tom yelled.

"Tom, you don't know how evil this mouse is. I'll take it to Mammy."

"I said let that mouse go!" He grabbed Jerry from Nato and pushed it into to the mouse hole.

"What's wrong with you?" asked Nato, puzzled.

"I just don't want a friend killed." Tom replied like a hero.

Jerry was hiding behind the hole. He was terrified after running away from Nato while at the same time moved by Tom's rescue. He felt Tom was not the one he used to know. Mixed feelings crowded into his head and he felt something in the throat.
