The Tower Top

A Harry Potter Fan Fiction.

"But Harry, we just cant" she wailed. "What would happen if Ron found out?"

Harry paused, "not too mention Fred and George," he added.

She didn't reply, she just turned away and leaned upon the low cessations around the turret.

She stood there for what seemed like an eternity, staring off towards the distant mountains, tinted with the last moments of the sun as it set behind them, casting a pale pink and orange across the tips of the snow covered peaks.

Harry came and stood behind her, and, wrapping his arms around her small frame, stood looking out at the beauty of the night sky.

At first she resisted his embrace. He felt the muscles in her arms tighten, and she tried to pull away, but after a while she relaxed and leaned in to him, her head resting against the firm mussels of his chest.

After about ten minutes, the sun having set fully behind the mountains, and the sky lighting up with the pale yet strangely enticing silvery glow of the sky, she turned back to him, her eyes full of unshed tears.

"O Harry, I love you so much. I wish I could spend all my time with you, but,"

She did not finish, as the tears came all unbidden to roll down her check and she chocked back a sob.

"Hush Ginny. Its ok, I don't mind them finding out."

She looked up at him, and said, "they will kill you, and you know how Ron feels."

Harry looked over her head, staring off into the distance, then, without warning, he jumped up onto the low wall.

Ginny cried out, thinking that harry was about to take a fall off the wall, a good three hundred feet above the ground, with the ice cold lake waiting below to welcome him into its frigid embrace.

Harry stood the staring at her, remembering the words of the song he had heard is aunt playing over the summer.

Again Ginny repeated her point. "Ron will kill you, you know he will."

Harry smiled and started to sing the lines of the song,

"Said we'd we be true, Said we'd be so so proud, Just me and you, We'd shout it out aloud"

Then, Harry bent down and, taking a firm hold of Ginny's hand, he pulled her up to him.

Ginny cried out as, as she came up onto the wall, Harry stepped back off of it.

But rather than falling down to meet the icy waters, he simply floated, standing there as though the air was as solid as stone.

Not letting go of her hand, Harry led Ginny out into the unsubstantial air.

"Harry? How?"

Harry smiled, and his only reply was "magic"

They stood there for what was probably over an hour, yet to both Harry and Ginny it seemed like barley a few moments.

Finally, Harry leaned down, and gently kissed Ginny. She wrapped her arms around him and he wrapped his around her.

Then, holding her hand, Harry led her back to the turret, where they stepped back onto the reassuring hardness of the stone.

Harry took in a deep breath, and then he turned to look at Ginny.

"Lets go and announce the news"

Ginny looked at Harry and nodded, though Harry thought that she probably did not trust her self enough to speak. Harry and Ginny walked hand in hand down the steps and headed of to the Gryffindor common room, to face the firing squad of the Weasley brothers.
