Annabeth Chase was sitting with her boyfriend, Percy Jackson on Half-Blood Hill, the place that she liked to call home.

They were holding hands and sitting in silence, watching the Satyrs playing their reed-pipes, causing the strawberry bushes to blossom.

"This is surreal," Annabeth spoke the words softly.

"What do you mean?" Percy's vivid green eyes danced with light as they met her gray ones.

"You know." She replied, "us. Being here. Just me and you."

"With nothing to worry about," Percy added with a twinge of bitterness.

"No Kronos," Annabeth continued, "no Labyrinth, no holding up the sky. No Sea of Monsters, no more being accused of stealing lightning bolts. No more outrageous quests or merciless battles."

"Just us," Percy concluded quietly.

And Annabeth could hardly believe it. Just them. Just her and Percy.

She had secretly harbored a tiny crush for him ever since she had first looked into those brilliant sea green eyes and taken in that cute messy black hair .

And that tiny crush had grown as she had gotten to know him over the years. Over the years of adventure and battle. She had gotten to know him to be funny, brave, selfless, kind, and so much more. She could go on for hours.

Over those years.

She cherished those years. They had lost so many that they knew and loved. But still, she cherished those years. Because those were the years in which, not only did she get to prove herself, conquer her fears, grow as a person, and do what was right. Over those years she had gotten to know Percy. She had gotten to love Percy in fact.

She hoped he felt the same way. She thought he felt the same way.

As if on cue, Percy repeated, "just us."

Percy sighed, "our lives have calmed down. I'm happy about that. But I would never ever, in a million years, trade the experiences we had together. For anything Annabeth."

Annabeth smiled, fingering the gray streak in her hair, now less prominent than it had once been, and glancing up at Percy's matching one "me too. I had fun with you Seaweed Brain."

Percy laughed, "I had fun with you too. I still do."

Annabeth's expression turned serious then, "besides Luke," she felt herself choking up slightly as she uttered his name, "and Thalia. You and Grover were the first ones I ever considered my real friends. My best friends."

"I'm sorry about Luke," Percy whispered.

Annabeth laughed. "Sorry? Why would you be sorry? Luke died as a hero. A completely selfless death. That's not something to be sorry about."

"You're right." Percy chuckled. "You outsmarted me again Wise Girl."

"Thanks for always being there for me, Percy." Annabeth whispered as she pressed her lips against his.

Percy broke away. "Thanks for giving me the best years of my life. Thanks for being you."

The next Great Prophecy was something that they would most likely not have to worry about, though it lingered in the backs of their minds.

They were together.

They were happy.

Life was good.
