I could lie and tell you you're my world.
I could lie.
He saw the way she looked at him. With pleading eyes and lips, just waiting to spill secrets and hidden feelings.
Thing was they weren't really hidden. But God love her she tried, she tried to keep it all in.
She was the type of girl he could of fallen for if he wasn't already broken from the last fall. Cunning and hard her facade hid something much more innocent. Pure. Something that he couldn't remember being ever in any of his lives. But then she wasn't much more then a child before she became sleeping beauty.
Because even though Spike didn't want her, he had to admit she was beautiful.
She adapted to a life she knew nothing about and for that Spike had to give her credit. He was pretty sure she could of become wealthy as a walker but she didn't. She stuck to her guns. He always liked a girl with balls.
He probably would have slept with her by now if it wasn't for that goddamn mouth of hers. She never failed to say something stupid or irritating. It amazed him that it hadn't got her killed by now. But he guessed you don't get the name Poker Alice without at least a little luck.
She was selfish, conceited and vain. She ate all the food and used up all the hot water. She lied about the most trivial of things and complained about everything. She was one of the most attention seeking people had ever met.
She was genuine, brave and caring. She followed her gut and him into battle even when there was nothing for her to gain.
She confused him.
The last time a woman confused him people turned up dead and people's lives were left in pieces. He wasn't really willing to play for such high stakes again.
So when she comes back, passing on a message for an angel from his past he doesn't give her any hope. Because there is none. Not for him. Not for her.
