Davy Jones: a poem

By: Jane Minatti

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. I just enjoy writing about things I like.

Summary: This is my first poem. Be nice. I wrote it while listening to the "Davy Jones Lullaby" on the POTC 2 soundtrack. Constructive criticism is welcome as long as they are intelligent. The poem is told from Elizabeth's point-of-view. I don't know why I wrote it that way, but that's how it ended up.

Come hear the tale of Davy Jones

He fell in love, and in his sorrow

He cut out his heart and locked it away

And saved it for a rainy day.

O captain of the Dutchman's sail,

Peg leg made of a bone of whale,

Beard like the kraken's tracks,

And eyes as cold as Poseidon's wrath.

He's cruel and vicious like the sea,

He has no heart, it's just a key.

But every night, he cries and weeps,

Because his love, he cannot keep.

And every night as he cries,

He will play this lullaby.

Haunting melodies that ring

Throughout the Dutchman's hull, it sings.

One hundred years out at sea

And Bootstrap's there for eternity.

He cannot walk on land anymore,

And the kraken follows him forevermore.

He is the sea. His heart beats

In the depths of oceans deep.

Hush my baby don't you cry

For he won't come for you tonight

We're safe with Will, he'll bring no harm.

And I will keep you safe and warm.
