The door closed very heavily, leaving a rather uncomfortable silence in it's wake. Gar's eye flicked from the door to the preteen who had caused its violent slamming; "Perhaps you should go apologise," the shape shifter said, addressing a smug-looking Damian, who shrugged,
"It's not like I was fabricating her history, I was stating the absolute truth,"
"And you'd be fine with her doing it to you?" Bart asked, "As I recall, the last time she did that you attacked her in front of the whole team plus Batman,"
Again the kid shrugged, "This time she had it coming, and you must admit, the only thing she cares about is herself,"
Connor frowned, "That's not entirely accurate Damian, if you can trust what Superman says, which I do,"
"Then prove it, when did Superman see her risk her life to protect someone?" Batman's protege challenged,
Cassie sighed, "She risks her life for people she doesn't know every day, Damian, or did you forget that she does this full time?"
Damian shook his head, "Not at all, but I've never seen it as something personal for her, now," her turned back to Connor, "What were you saying?"
Connor tilted his head to one side slightly, weighing the risks of telling the kid about what he'd heard from Superman then came to a decision, "From what Superman says," Connor started, choosing each word carefully, "She'd risk her life to protect Nightwing,"
Silence followed, showing clearly that none of the others had even heard an inkling of this story, the seconds of silence stretched into minutes before it was broken by a snort from Damian, "Yeah, right, Grayson. First candidate for her affections." Damian's amusement at this was shared by his teammates,
"When?" Cassie asked, interest piqued,
"Back before the bombing of Bludhaven," Connor said, not wanting to elaborate further,
"If it was back then wouldn't she have still been a bad guy?" Gar asked,
Connor shrugged, "It's just what Superman said, but it's possible,"
"And it makes sense," Bart supplied, "Remember how it was Dick who got her into the Titans in the first place?"
Damian yelped, "What? Are you serious?"
Cassie nodded and stood to leave, "She's more like you than you think, just give her a chance,"

One by one she and the others left, leaving Damian alone, for several seconds he sat and thought, then he too left and headed for the roof.
He heard Rose before he saw her, thuds and thwacks that meant her mood had headed south;
"Rose?" Damian peered around the door and ducked with a yelp as one of the swords belonging to the addressed individual buried itself in the wall where Damian's head had been moments before. Damian got the idea that it wasn't by accident.
"What do you want, chick?" Rose asked, malice practically dripping from her mouth,
With enormous effort Damian stopped himself returning with a scathing comment, "Umm, I just wanted to say, Uh, sorry... Y'know, for what I said,"
The boy shifted awkwardly, "it was out of line,"
There was silence for three, long minutes. Then something was tossed at Damian's head, this time he caught the sword; "What..?"
Rose smiled, balanced on the balls of her feet, remaining sword held horizontally before her; "Okay little D," she rolled her head on her neck with a distinct click, "Let's see how good your game is."
Damian smirked this time as he assumed his own fighting stance, sword levelled at Rose's chest, "Are you sure?"
The other descendant of a psychopath smiled, "Just don't make it too easy."
