OBAN STAR RACERS-REMAKE
Disclaimer- Christie Anne does not own Oban Star Racers but she does own the plot, but don't quote me on that.
Hello everyone, so I've decided to re write this story as I have some brilliant new ideas for the plot. Sorry if anyone gets upset by this.
CHAPTER ONE: PREVIOUS YEARS
EVA'S POV
Another year has passed and still my father made no attempt to contact me. I don't know why I had expected this birthday to be any different than all the rest, that this time my father would have at least bothered to send me a birthday card, but then again my father was Don Wei. He hadn't bothered with any contact since he left me at the boarding school twelve years ago, why would that change now that I was eighteen.
Eighteen, I was finally able to legally leave this school that had held me prisoner for all these years. Finally I would be able to confront Don Wei as to why he left me here. Being a mother myself I could never understand how he was able to leave me, walk out of his daughter's life completely.
Having a four year old son hasn't exactly been easy for me over the years, in fact as Mika grew older everything else seemed to grow harder. I would never regret the decision to have my son though, he was my entire life and the only family I had left. Of course there was my father, Don Wei the famous racing manager but I haven't heard from him since he left me at the Stern Boarding School when I was six years old after my mother's tragic death.
I felt Mika clutch my hand tightly as we walked through the giant doors that had held me prisoner at the school for the last twelve years. Today was the day where that was all going to change, by turning eighteen I was legally allowed to leave the school along with my son Mika.
I secured Mika in the back seat of my brand new silver convertible, how exactly did I manage to pay for this you ask? Simple my father may not want any contact with me but one thing he had left for me was a no limit credit card. I often used the credit card to buy pointless expensive things with my good for nothing fathers money.
I had no idea what I was going to do with my life now that I had left school. Sure I could have easily got accepted into any college of my choice, having the top grades in the state allowed that. The problem that remained was my attitude, I had gone through a rebellious streak when I was younger, always ditching class, burning other student's dorm rooms down when they pissed me off, and then there was the pot smoking and the binge drinking. Granted I had given up the alcohol and drugs when I had discovered I was pregnant with Mika, and now days I rarely found the need to burn down another student's room but what college would accept me with a police record and a four year old kid.
I knew one thing for sure at this moment I was heading to Wei Racing, I planned to pay a little visit to my dear old dad. In twelve years he had never visited me, wrote a letter or even bothered with a phone call. I couldn't even begin to picture Don Wei's face when I informed him about his grandson.
Because my father was absent from my life, I had to go through the pregnancy alone. I had originally planned to have an abortion but I just couldn't go through with it. Adoption wasn't a choice wither as I couldn't stand by watching someone else raise my baby, not after all those sleepless nights I had spent wishing for my parents. And Mika's Father well it was clear at the beginning of my pregnancy that I wouldn't his support. He had been five years older than me, part of a racing gang and it is safe to say he was either in jail or dead by now.
When Mika and I arrived at Wei racing I had instantly recognised Don Wei and surprise surprise he was arguing with one of his employees. I slipped pass them and had that Star Racer running in no time. Before I realised what was happening I had already told Don Wei that my name was Molly. After coming all this way I couldn't even face him.
'Well Molly, I am required to take a team into space for the great race of Oban and as you can imagine I need the best mechanics available. I would like to offer you a place on my team as head mechanic.' Wait he's offering me a job, what would make him think I would want his offer? Oh right he doesn't know that I'm Eva, his daughter. Of course if I did accept, it would give me a chance to get to know my father again and hopefully he would be able to see what he's missed out on.
'Sir I would like to accept this generous offer however I have no one who could watch my son.' 'I see that is a problem but I require only the best so I suppose your son will have to join us as well.' Wait, what he can't expect me to bring Mika, a four year old into outer space. Don Wei doesn't have a clue what he's signing up for, this was going to be interesting.
After having a quick introduction and a run through Don Wei introduced me to the rest of the team. 'This is Koji and Stan. Boys Molly here is your new boss.' And like classic Don Wei he walked off. Koji was the first one to approach me. 'Hya Molly, I'm Koji if you don't mind me saying you look awfully young to be a senior mechanic, how old are you exactly?' Koji's eyes narrowed towards Eva.
'I'm eighteen but don't judge me by my age, I'm sure I can give you a run for your money. This is my son Mika, he's four.' I knew by now it was easier to get everything out into the open, they would figure out soon enough that I got pregnant at fourteen. Well almost everything except for the fact that I was Don Wei's daughter and my name was really Eva.
Within minutes we were discussing possible upgrades for the Star Racers when Don Wei, rude how he is interrupted our conversation to introduce me to Rick and Jordan. After a quick round of introductions Rick was talking to Mika. 'Hey little guy who are you?' Mika quickly hid behind me, leaving me in the fire to answer Rick's question. 'Sorry about that he's probably tired, we've had a long day. His name is Mika and he's my son.' Even though I was only fourteen when he was born I can't help but smile with pride as I say that.
Jordan found this as the perfect time to interrupt the conversation and to add to Eva's frustration. 'Wait he's your son, no way what were you like sixteen when he was born?' 'Actually I was fourteen but I don't see how that's any of your business.' And with that I placed my son on my hip and left the room but not before hearing Don Wei muttering about 'I wonder what her parents have to say about her having a child so young.' Yeah right if only he knew, Eva thought.
Yes the road to Oban was going to be very interesting.
