CSI NY- SET IN SEASON 3
Detective Lindsay Monroe sat in the break room enjoying the five minutes she finally had to spare. It was her first break all day, but that's what happened when you get a big case and she wouldn't give it up for the world. Working in the crime lab was what she had always wanted to do, even if it could be a little too much at times. Just as she swallowed the last mouthful of her coffee, Stella burst through the door. "Linds, there you are. We got a case, Mac and Danny are meeting us there."
Tori Whiteny didn't know what was happening. She'd been hiding from her step-father, as usual, when she'd heard shouting from upstairs then a loud bang. She knew her older brother owned a gun but he kept it locked under his bed and he promised he would never actually use it. From her spot in the cubby at the back of the downstairs closet, the shots sounded as if they'd come from in her mother's room. There was a childlike scream and some more shouting, 3 more loud bangs then silence. The floorboards above her creaked, alerting her to the fact that there was still somebody up there, moving around slowly across the landing, heading towards her room. She heard her door slam open then a roar of rage before the shooter came thundering down the stairs. He stopped halfway making her hold her breath. He descended the rest of the way slowly then searched downstairs in the kitchen and living room. Feeling brave, Tori opened her closet door a tiny crack to see if she recognised the intruder. He had a crazed look in his eye and his hands were covered in blood, as were his clothes. She scooted back into the corner and hid under an old coat. She just had to wait for him to leave, then she could go and find a neighbour, ask for help, call an ambulance. She just needed him to leave soon...
