"Are you going to move in together?" Robyn asked, her voice breaking through the silence easily and yet not even making a dent in the tension in the room. The pair were sat in the living room of the student house, Lofty was at work and Max had popped down to the shop to buy some milk and cigarettes, leaving Zoe alone with the young nurse. Before the relationship between Zoe and Max had been revealed, Robyn and the consultant had gotten on well but it seemed now that she was jealous of Zoe stealing her bother away.
"What?" Zoe asked, confused as to why the young nurse would think that they were moving in together when they'd only been together for little over a month.
"You're a consultant Zoe, I doubt you enjoy slumming it here. I've never seen Max this is in love before, he's fallen hard for you and that's something I never thought would happen to Max. When he's with you, all you can see is love radiating from him and when he's not you're all he thinks about." Robyn stated, getting caught up slightly in the romance and blissfulness of her brother's own fairy tale.
"You do know that I feel the same, right?" Zoe asked as she placed her phone down on the coffee table and turned to face the ginger nurse.
"Yeah, I can see love radiating from you too and from the amount his phone buzzes since you've been together, I'm guessing you can't stop thinking about him either when you aren't together." Robyn replied, stating what Zoe hadn't thought had been as evident in herself as it had been in her partner.
"Good. I'm going to be honest with you, I had thought about moving in together. I'm bored of moving between Dylan's, here and hotel rooms, I'm 40 and all I want is to settle down. So yeah, I'm going to buy my own place again and then at some point invite him to move in, only if you're okay with it though." She told the nurse, wanting Robyn to know that she wasn't about to steal Max away from her.
"He's pushing 30 Zoe, I can't tell him how to live his life, that's down to him. For what it's worth though, I'm happy as long as he is. I know others would probably say it's moving very quickly but I've never seen a couple so in love, it's like you're living your own fairy tale."
"We haven't been completely honest with you Robyn, we've been together longer than just a month. You remember I went away?" She asked, and received a nod from the nurse who was listening eagerly. "We were together about 6 months before that."
"And no one knew?!" Robyn asked, things beginning to add up in her head.
"Well Dylan did, but not until I came back. Your brother turned up at the boat at Christmas with a present for me, and Dylan figured it out."
"He can be very persistent."
"Don't I know it!"
"Are you talking about me?" Max asked as he shut the front door behind him and walked into the living room, only to see his two favourite people sat talking and laughing.
"Believe it or not, there are better things to talk about." Zoe spoke, standing up to let Max sit down before sitting on top of him.
"Well I have an early start in the morning so I'm going to get an early night, it's been nice chatting Zoe." Robyn spoke, no matter how comfortable she now was with her brother's relationship, she drew the line at sitting while they couldn't keep their hands off each other next to her. She stood and placed her wine glass next to the sink, to be washed up in the morning and then headed for the door. "Keep the noise to a minimum please."
