Tidus and Yuna:

The Real Thing

I sat in the darkness. I defeated Sin, along with Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, Auron and Rikku. Yuna was at my side the entire time. I was the sixth guardian for her. I'm just the fayth's dream, and my name is Tidus. As I sat there, surrounded by darkness, the pyreflies swarmed around me. They carried me her songs, her emotions, her silent tears. How I wished to be back in Spira, with her. Yuna was the best thing that ever happened to me. Throughout her entire pilgrimage I had been selfish, only wanting to go home, to Zanarkand. But that all changed, that night in the Macalania Woods. I kissed her, and everything changed. I only thought of Yuna. Of protecting her, keeping her safe from all danger. I remember that final battle, against my father Jecht. I remember her fighting valiantly, and I remember the pain as his sword cut my body. How she healed my wounds, how just being with her healed my broken heart and soul. I missed her terribly. Every so often, the fayth of Bahamut would bring me her songs and sing them in her voice for me. After, he would just say "Soon. Very soon."

He told me one day that she had defeated another person from Zanarkand. Shuyin. I remember that name. He was a valiant warrior from a thousand years ago. His lover Lenne was a summoner, and she was sent to the front lines in the ancient war. She was a very powerful summoner. With Lenne and her guardian Shuyin, the enemies of Zanarkand were pushed back. However, the soldiers of Bevelle had one final weapon. A colossal machina known as Vegnagun. Shuyin didn't want Lenne to face that monster, so he decided to sneak in, and destroy it himself. Shuyin was caught, and he shared one final kiss with Lenne as they both met their ends. People said I was a lot like Shuyin. And as I was thinking of Shuyin, it happened.

Suddenly I was underwater. Very familiar water. I splashed to the surface, and I was right back where I was, that day. Besaid. A great red airship came swooping from the sky. It slowed as it approached the shallow water for a landing. And then I saw her. Yuna was jumping from the airship, and she landed in the water and ran to me, her arms wide open and I met her open arms. It was a long time before we spoke.

"Are you real?" She asked.

"I think so." I wasn't too sure myself.

We slowly parted from that magical hug, and I had my hands on her shoulders. She traced a path with her eyes, slowly, finally looking me in the eyes. How I loved her eyes.

"Do I pass?"

She nodded.

"You're back."

I smiled and looked into her eyes.

"I am back. I'm home!"

"Welcome home."

I hugged her, and she slowly put her arms around my waist, and I drew her closer to me, her head on my shoulder. That's when I knew I was really home. Being back with her, in Spira, I knew that's where I belonged. I sensed a great prescence of people, but I didn't release her.

"Hey! You two get a room!"

I recongnized that voice.

"Who asked you Wakka?"

I was aware that Rikku was there, and so was Wakka and Lulu, but I didn't care. I held Yuna close to me, and we slowly pulled away. I started to run towards the beach, holding her hand, and she pulled ahead of me, dragging me along.

"You know, you've changed."

"Well you've missed a few things."

"I want to hear everything."

"Well it all started when I saw this sphere of you."

I listened to her story. About Leblanc, Vegnagun, Shuyin and Lenne, everything. I had been gone for two years. Wakka and Lulu were married. Yuna had defeated the monster known as Sin, and the colossus known as Vegnagun. Both times aided by close friends, supported by the people of Spira. A month passed before I asked her to marry me. She said yes, and we're happy together, and we're expecting.

This is our story now, and it'll be a good one.
