This Harry Potter one-shot is a request from the user Starwars Shooter. Make sure to check out his YouTube channel Harry Potter Fanfic where he creates a fantastic video fanfic of Harry and Ginny.

Summary: Once Bill and Fleur's is interrupted by Death Eaters, Harry, Ron and Hermione head off on their hunt for the Horcruxes only to find out someone accidentally came with them, who is it? What will the impact be? Find out…

I hated that Harry and Ginny broke up in the book so my stories they never broke up, they'll just be acting like their broken up except to the Order, Ron, and Hermione.

In this one-shot, Ginny and Harry have been dating long before the Half-Blood Prince so you'll just have to find out for yourselves when they did.

Make sure to maybe check out my other Harry Potter stories I'd like that very much.

Just uploaded Chapter 25 in my Harry Potter the Journey to Hogwarts story, hope those who have read it enjoyed it.

There will be different deaths and people who live in this one-shot so be prepared.

Now, let's go…

Harry Potter

The Unexpected Ride Along

One-shot

Today was the day. The day Harry Potter turned 17 years old, the day the trace was lifted. Today was the day that he was going to start the journey Dumbledore had embarked him on, so after Bill and Fleur's wedding, he would be off either on his own or with his two best friends.

Some of the Order of the Phoenix had arrived to evacuate Harry Potter from #4 Privet Drive to the Burrow consisting of:

Mad-Eye Moody

Dora Tonks

Remus Lupin

Hermione Granger

Ron Weasley

Fred Weasley

George Weasley

Arthur Weasley

Kingsley Shacklebolt

Bill Weasley

Fleur Delacour

Mundungus Fletcher

And last but not least Hagrid.

Most of the gang had to polyjuice themselves to become Harry, much to most of their discomfort hoping they didn't arrive first to be assaulted by Ginny Weasley, Harry's girlfriend of over 3 years since getting together in his 5th year, her 4th after his confessed feelings she broke things with Michael Corner in an instant.

Mad-Eye turned to the group, that rotating eye looking over everyone, "Make for the Burrow you lot. We rendezvous there." He said sternly, Harry was nervous if he'd even make it there as he sat in the sidecar of Sirius Black's motorcycle Hagrid had used to get him to the Dursleys 17 years ago.

Mad-eye yelled out, "ON THE COUNT OF THREE."

Hagrid kick-started the motor, "Hold tight my friend. We'll be at the Burrow sooner than you could say Hogwarts." He said looking down at his passenger, "Hogwarts. Hey, you lied." Harry teased smacking one of his oldest friends on the arm.

Hagrid laughed.

"ONE." Hermione looked back at Harry, who was also Harry, who was staring back at her a little nervous, "Feeling alright Harry?" She asked.

Harry nodded, "What about you, Harry?" They both chuckled and she hated to be one of the subjects to the polyjuice potion to be Harry.

"Don't worry Hermione we'll get there unscathed… At least I hope…" Said the grim tone of Harry.

"TWO." Everyone else began to get ready.

Fleur, who was also Harry, wrapped her arms around Bill's midsection which looked rather unpleasant to the real Harry. Bill, sensing his thoughts, smirked with a knowing nod.

The Auror tapped his walking stick on the ground chanting, "THREE. GO, GO, GO, GO."

It all went to hell…

About a quarter into the journey, Hagrid was hit in the back of the head knocking the half-giant out, Hedwig saved Harry, who then narrowly dodged the killing curse. Hedwig swooped back around knocking the Death Eater away and poking out his eyes before speeding off towards the Burrow.

As Ginny was waiting outside the Burrow with tears she hoped she didn't have to release. Soft hoots came closer and closer, which was right then when Hedwig landed in front of Ginny, cocking her head to the side staring at her owner's girlfriend gleefully.

Ginny got down to the owl's level, "Hey girl…" She said petting the owl, "Do you know where our Harry is?" She cooed.

Hedwig looked to the sky, a dot with fire behind it came trailing out of the nowhere before a loud crash was heard from everywhere around the Burrow, Ginny backed away freaked out.

"What was that noise? Ginny dear are you alright?" Asked Mrs. Weasley, frantically looking around for any sign of anyone around. Ginny stood up pointing a shaking figure at the smoke trailing leading into the large field of wheat.

Her world then lit up with dread and happiness. Harry came out of the bushes, a bloody gash running down his arm, eyes pleading with his own wand as he fixed up his arm, "Healiocorpus…" He sighed feeling the wound seal back up though rather painfully.

Ginny made toward him, tears of joy running down her face since she knew this was the real Harry due to it being Hagrid he was with. The two of them engaged in a tight, loving hug, "How are you, Harry? I missed you so much… Those muggles didn't hurt you this summer did they?" She asked making sure the people she hated more than Voldemort didn't hurt her Harry.

Harry grinned, "Vernon tried but every time they'd try, Lupin would knock on the door threatening them with letting them be killed by Voldemort."

Ginny giggled, "Remind me to thank him later." The couple smiled before giving each other a hug.

She looked around for a second before looking back to her drenched in water boyfriend, "Tonks should have been back already… Dad and Fred as well…" She said with a little concern and some fear.

Harry placed a hand on her cheek, "Don't worry…" His sentence was interrupted when Lupin and Fred came through, "HELP. HELP. GEORGE NEEDS TO LIE DOWN NOW." Harry ran over placing himself under George's right arm with Lupin on the left leading the wounded fighter into the house.

Ginny stood off to the right horrified at seeing her brother hurt, and as they entered, Lupin ran a hand through his hair after placing George on the couch before abruptly turning, yanking out his wand pointing it directly at Harry as she pushed him against the wall.

Ginny tried to get Lupin off of her boyfriend without much luck, "QUIET GINNY." Lupin screamed, "...This may not even be the real Harry. It could be a trick. Now, what creature sat in my office the first time Harry Potter visited my office…" Harry tried to push off, "ARE YOU MAD?" Lupin pushed Harry further against the wall using his elbow.

"WHAT CREATURE?" Little droplets of saliva spat from the werewolf's mouth. Harry breathed quickly before replying, "A grindylow."

With hesitation, Lupin slowly pulled away, snapping his head in the other direction sighing dejectedly, "We have been betrayed… He knew you'd be moved tonight and don't ask me how I just don't know." He said plopping himself down on the couch.

Ginny looked back out the door to see Hagrid crawling out of the bushes, his left arm missing.

Ginny jumped almost five feet in the air, "HOLY SHIT." Without even thinking it she ran out to help Hagrid. Hedwig swooped overhead, concern etched on her face watching what was occurring with one of her owners closest friends.

Sliding through the mud the girl came to a slushy halt taking Hagrid in her arms slightly, "Hagrid?" She sobbed. Ginny and Hagrid had been friends, close friends like he and Harry since her second year when she confided in him to try to get Harry to notice her. Hagrid opened his eyes, tears leaking from them, "Ey… Gin…ny… Wha…?"

Ginny put a finger to his lips crying, "I'm not going to let you die alone." Harry soon came out after noticing what was happening hugging her around the waist where she leaned back into him crying, though he was slightly crying too, "I must have not seen you, Hagrid…" Voice choked from the incoming sob.

Hagrid rolled over with the help of Harry and Ginny, "I was so glad yeh two got together back during yer 3rd and 4th year at the Yule Ball… It… It was wonderful. Like peanut butter and jelly you were. Stuck to each other through thick and thin…" A rather hard, strained cough followed. Blood seeped from his lips, into his beard and down the side of his face.

"Hagrid…" Ginny said sadly, watching her friend die before her, "That here crash… Wounded me greatly ye see… I don't know how much longer… I… I have…" He started clutching at the large coat he wore over his heart breathing heavily.

Harry hugged the man who had brought such a young child into the wizarding world, told the truth about how his parents had died and much more. Harry smiled sadly, "You take care of little Ginny, Harry. I reckon that in… Many years the Potter family will be many once… More…" Flashing a knowing smile at the future Mrs. Potter.

Ginny gasped before fiddling with the promise ring on her right hands ring finger, smiling happily, yet sadly. Harry smiled at her before hearing the big mans last words which brought them out of their reverie.

"Win this war… Harry Potter… Win this for me, Ginny, the Weasley's…" The half-giants eyes mystified with tears, "...Most of all… Win this to avenge your parents… W… Win this to start a new one…" His eyes began to close and Ginny buried her face in Harry's chest, who protectively wrapped his arms around her.

"Hello 'Arry. Ready to start your first year? My, who is this fella?"

"Woahhh…" Spoke the red-haired boy. Harry grinned, "Hello Hagrid. This is my new friend Ron Weasley." Kindly spoke the spectacled young boy.

Hagrid beamed, "A Weasley huh? I don't if I should tell you this 'Arry, but I heard Ron's family is very into family, maybe they'll be a second family to you." He teased about the 'not thinking he should tell him this'

"Alright, first years follow me…"

The dam of tears broke, Hagrid, Harry's first ever friend before meeting Ron was dead.

Ginny hugged her boyfriend tightly, running a hand down his back caringly, tears of her own falling down onto his shirt.

The door opened with a loud creak, "Ah… Miss Ginny Weasley. What can I do for ye?" Smiled the large man down at the small 2nd year standing in the threshold of the hut.

The nervous girl slid a foot on the floor, arms behind her back, "How… Mr. Hagrid, how can I get Harry to notice me? I really want to spend the rest of my life with that kind, heroic, noble, strong young man." She said a little apprehensive with herself for even having to ask this question to a close friend of Harry's.

Hagrid looked to be about to reply with his eyes looking calm and caring before though she continued thinking he was going to say something to make her back down, "I want to marry him, give him the family he so desperately desires, protect him, care for him, and love him more than anything in this world." Tears know cascading down her cheeks.

Ginny smiled remembering this fond memory which gave her the courage to act herself around Harry, sure enough, it worked when he had asked her out to the Yule Ball the next year, the day the destined couple truly began dating.

"Hagrid he asked me to the Yule Ball… I'M SO HAPPY. THANK YOU, HAGRID FOR EVERYTHING." After having been asked out to the Yule Ball, by a champion no less, this year being her 3rd began to turn around for giddy Ginny.

"Kid, no problem."

Harry remembered the very first words Hagrid had said to him that started him on the journey through the wizarding world. If it hadn't been for that very night then Harry wouldn't be sitting right here, love of his life snuggled his arms, friends, a close family who will be his possibly someday and a greatish life.

"Yer a wizard Harry…"

Harry then broke down as did Ginny, "Don't… Stop… Loving… Each other…" Were Hagrid's last words, eyes closed, body limp and breathing stopped.

At that moment was when Kingsley and Mad-Eye decided to show up looking quite anxious, then spotting the dead Hagrid, the African-British wizard stopped dead, "Hagrid…" Flitting to Harry, the leader of the Order of the Phoenix asked, "What gave you away?"

Hedwig landed nearby, "Hedwig I think." Said Harry scratching his head trying to remember.

Mad-Eye waddled over, "Such a tragedy this is. Figured you two were close and now I see it is true." Looking toward the door, Mad-Eye laughed, "Mundungus is dead by the way. Voldemort killed that traitor, ratted us out he did." Harry's breath caught in his throat at hearing that.

Lupin nodded in agreeance, "We've been betrayed. Voldemort knew you were being moved tonight and apparently it was that little baldie." Ginny giggled never having heard the word such as baldie before and it sounded funny to her, so much so that the others were infected by her laughter and joined in with her.

A blinding flash of light occurred and out of the night came Nymphadora Tonks and Ron. Ginny ran at Ron hugging him tightly, "Glad you are alive big bro." Ron looked at her confused then looked to everyone else then back to her.

"Who are you, and what have you done with Ginny." He grinned widely, earning a slap on the arm from his one and only sister, "Oh, shut it you big prat." Though a happy tone was in her voice.

After another few minutes, everyone had arrived and proceeded with the funeral of Hagrid.

Harry and Ginny placed flowers down on his grave, silent tears flowing down their faces as they held each other trying to at least be strong.

"Rest in peace you restless, lumbering half-giant. May Merlin give you a perfect place in the clouds." Mad-Eye said whipping a golden strand around the casket, "Muldundra." Then the whole casket turned golden as it sunk into the ground to be buried.

As everyone left the funeral Mad-eye produced a single rose pinning it to the dirt with a cross over it.

Here lies Hagrid (Whatever his last name is)

A good friend, gamekeeper, and loyal to the end

Born: 1928

Died: 1997

2 days later was the wedding for Bill and Fleur. It all was going well up until this happened…

"The Ministry has fallen. The Minister of Magic… Is dead. They are coming… They are coming."

The whole party went into panic mode with guests disapparating left and right, "Nice seeing you, Mr. Potter." Said an old man before leaving without a trace.

Death Eaters came in wrecking the most perfect wedding by Weasley standards.

Ginny began dueling a weak Death Eater who had faced her a year before at the battle of the Astronomy Tower last school year and beat him. She heard someone shout her name in earnest.

"GINNY…" Harry yelled trying to run to her only for Lupin to get in his way, "No… GO… GO…" He pushed Harry over to the Ron and Hermione, "Let's go, Harry…"

Ginny though, Ginny had heard Harry and began running to them to kiss Harry goodbye.

Unfortunately, right as she touched Hermione's shoulder blade, an unfamiliar feeling came from her navel and felt like puking only to stop in an alleyway with cars bustling down the street at the end.

As the trio began walking having not noticed her presence, they walked into a nearby bar. Ginny, knowing the Order hid her magical signature now that the ministry has fallen conjured up a simple grey hoodie and walked in sitting down a couple of chairs away.

"...So what do you suppose the plan is Harry?" She heard Hermione say as they were done ordering from the waitress.

Ginny sadly saw Harry put his face in her hands, "I… I don't know Hermione. We are on the run, maybe go and camp out? Somewhere in the country for no one to notice us?" Ginny slowly nodded preparing to follow them once they headed out.

Ginny wanted to keep herself undercover, Harry and co wouldn't know it was her, but all things had to go astray when the waitress came over to her asking for the order the hoodie customer was thinking of asking.

The girl kindly smiled just trying to imitate another voice, "Uh… 1-minute ma'am please?" Darn, that voice sounded like a silly-like voice Ron knew all too well, except he wasn't looking her way but at Hermione who was speaking about something.

On the menu, there were all sorts of varieties of foods.

Cheeseburgers

Pepperoni Pizza

Pumpkin Pie

Salad

Spinach

Croissants

Chocolate pastries

Roast Beef Sandwiches and much, much more.

Ginny's lips pursed, 'What in Merlin's name is a cheeseburger?' Deciding to at least try muggle foods, after all, marrying Harry in the distant future will open her up to the muggle kind of things so instead of going for a salad she looked up at the waitress warmly smiling, "I'll try the best cheeseburger you have on the menu."

Sully, the waitress, wrote down what the order was, "Alright I'll be back with your order in a minute." They smiled at one another, and then Ginny panicked, "...What exactly do you think Voldemort is going to do if he wins?" She heard Ron say, and without any time to spare Ginny flicked out her wand where nobody could see it and cast a obliviate spell of his name on the guys who were slowly making their way inside the cafe.

These two figures looked at each other, shrugged then walked away back up the crowded street. Ginny blew a sigh of relief not having to fight Death Eaters at the moment.

"Harry… We need to do this. We should camp out for a few days after staying over at Grimmauld place for at least a week so we can get our bearings straight." Hermione said laying a hand over his and Ron nodded, "Yeah mate we can do this…" He trailed off as out of the corner of his eye the stranger in the corner seemed all too familiar with a red hair slightly falling out of the hood.

He blinked and just like that the hooded figure wasn't there. In reality, Ginny hid behind the corner to the restrooms, fearing Ron might have seen her.

"I miss Ginny…" Harry said suddenly, choked sobs coming from his throat it sounded like to her.

Ron smiled at his best friend, "Don't worry mate. We'll be done with this quest in no time I reckon. Soon you shall be with my crazy sister once again." He teased.

Ginny though, Ginny didn't think of this as teasing and was prepared to hex the living daylights out of the brother in the room.

As they got up to leave the cafe after they ate, Ginny rushed after them at a slow pace. Ginny rushed forward once noticing that they were disapparating.

As she grabbed Harry's shoulder, winds from the movement caused her hood to fly off something the redhead feared would happen.

Once she felt the hard ground she looked around. Ginny looked around frantically and figured out where she was, the middle of the street outside of Grimmauld Place, with Harry, Ron, and Hermione staring at her like she was a ghost, "Babe… How are you here?" Harry asked carefully touching her face making sure she is real. She had to close her eyes, scrunch up her face as she did not him rubbing his hand all over her face.

She let out a breath, "Harry, honey, STOP IT." Spat the 16-year-old glaring at her boyfriend gritting her teeth, "And for your question Harry. I was about to come over and kiss you, though as I put a hand on Hermione you three apparated so that is why I'm here." At seeing Harry's worrisome face she shot it down, "AND THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING BACK TO THE BURROW. I DON'T WANT TO BE SEPARATED FOR HOW MANY MONTHS YOU'LL BE GONE."

Seeing his freaked out look his girlfriend calmed herself down never liking yelling at Harry, "I'm not returning to Hogwarts either, while you, Ron and Hermione were having a meeting with the Minister an owl landed near me and guess who the new fucking headmaster of Hogwarts is?" She asked gesturing towards Harry.

Both eyes narrowed dangerously, Ginny smirked knowing that her man got the picture, "Bloody traitor. How is SNAPE THE HEADMASTER?"

Ginny giggled, "You heard the patronus right? 'The ministry has fallen' and such and such." Raising an eyebrow towards her beloved, "Ginny… If not Hogwarts you need to go home." This, to her relief, wasn't Harry, but Ron. Ginny slowly faced him and smiled, "Hell no big brother. I'm staying. The Order of the Phoenix has masked my signature silly boy."

Harry grinned running a hand through her hair, "Well then, my girlfriend is gonna break the law. I'm so proud of you." He said mockingly, Ginny glared at him playfully, "At least we have something in common to tell our future kids that both their parents broke the law… But for the greater good." A toothy smile replacing her glare thinking about kids with Harry.

"I'm gonna have to witness a lot of romance between you, haven't I?" Said Ron a little disgruntled, "Ginny… Please no…"

His sister smashed her lips to his best friends then broke apart, "Yep. Anyway, what is it you guys were planning on doing in the first place? Just going into hiding for awhile? Or what?" Asked the beautiful girl looking for Ron to Harry to Hermione questionably.

Harry spoke up, "Were on a mission, honey. A mission to destroy Voldemort's soul. Destroy Horcruxes. If you accept you are in intimate danger, more so than ever. Are you in?"

Ginny stood proudly, arms crossed with a smirk, "Hell yeah I am."

And with those words said the four of them embarked on a journey to find the Horcruxes. Thankfully, R.A.B had the locket stowed away in the upstairs bedroom that once belonged to the brother of Sirius Black.

Unknown to Ginny, Ron, and Hermione that one of the Horcruxes was with them until it became time for the final battle…
