Irony

By Catsitta

If this is heaven then I'd rather be in hell.

All around me are reminders of what I've loved and lost.

Here I half expect the long dead to come and ask if I am well,

Then bitterly they inquire if this was worth the cost.

Instead, I see angels, the kind of familiar tale.

They smile, they sing, they fly upon feathered wings.

Then one pulls out a harp and begins to regale:

"Oh Hero of the Goddess, to us such joy does he bring."

I can bring no joy to solemn hearts when my own feels like lead.

This can't be heaven, I scream within my mind.

For standing there behind me is a man I learned to dread.

In the name of some begotten cause somehow our lives became intertwined.

"This can't be heaven! "I hear myself cry, "Not when he is here."

It then becomes a prison made of my greatest fear.

A/N: ( Some of my readers are probably going,"Huh-whut?" Yeah, yeah, I know. Poetry, right? Always full of tricky symbolism and the like and no action to speak of. Hehe.

To the curious, this is basically describing Cloud joining the LIfestream and seeing all of his friends who are happy that he is with them. But, there is another there as well. Sephiroth. Now who exactly wants to spend the eternity it takes before one's memories and souls are absorbed into the Planet's blood with one's worst enemy? Dunno why I wrote it. I know that there is no true 'Heaven & Hell' belief in Final Fantasy VII, but hey. I hoped you enjoyed and I always appreciate reviews. )
