Author's Chapter Notes:
Merry Christmas everyone!
Fairy Lights and Tinsel
Dean stepped out of the motel room and stopped dead.
He turned to his brother with a look of both amusement and annoyance and Sam relaxed realising that despite the tone of his brother's voice he wasn't as near to imminent death as he had feared he would be…but he was sailing close.
"What….did you do to my damn car!?" Dean had turned back to stare at the Impala and was trying hard not to either explode or laugh, he wasn't quite sure which.
"I wanted to decorate the only home that we've ever had and spend Christmas in it." Sam had dropped his head and was scuffling his feet on the ground. "I'm sorry I'll take it all off."
He went to brush by his brother but Dean stopped him. Sam looked up and smiled as Dean shook his head at him and grinned. "Sometimes Sammy…I really worry about where your head is at…really."
Dean walked up and surveyed his car more closely.
Sam had really did a number on the poor old girl.
She had tinsel on her aerial, fake snow along the bottom of the windows, a little plug in Christmas tree on the dash and fairy lights round the inside of her roof that were flashing at him. The dash was littered with more tinsel.
Dean shook his head again and gently patted the roof of his beloved Impala. "I'm sorry…we'll get him back later ok? I have to give the guy a break…it's Christmas…and he's my brother…but he is so gonna regret this at New Year…believe me."
"Are you talking to the car?" Sam walked up to stand beside him.
"You vandalised my car and you want to diss me for talking to her…you really got that big a death wish?"
"I didn't vandalised her."
Dean glared at him at that remark. "Get in."
Sam slipped into the passenger seat and listened to his brother curse as he hit his head on the baubles that were hanging just inside the driver's door.
"Sorry, they're a bit low." He grinned sheepishly at Dean.
"You think?" Dean looked round the car. He noticed that the Ipod had made its home back on the dash.
He raised an eyebrow at Sam.
"Just for today."
"Do I really want to press play?"
"Probably not."
Dean lent over and did it anyway. The car was filled with the sound of 'Silent Night'. He chuckled. "At least they sing it better than we did last year. So what else you got?"
Sam picked up a flask. "Eggnog." He opened it and poured two glasses.
"Now you're talking." Dean took a drink and choked.
"You ok?" Sam reached over to pat Dean's back but his brother stopped him.
"I'm good…this is great." His voice was a croak. Dean looked round the car again and grinned."This is cool Sammy…I like it really."
"Really?"
"No place I'd rather spend Christmas in and no one I'd rather spend it with." Dean slipped his drink again and scrunched his face as the kick in it hit him again. "Damn that's good."
"You aren't gonna go all chick-flicky on me are you?"
"No…one girl in this family is quite enough I think." Dean looked at his watch and raised his glass. "Past midnight Sammy…Happy Christmas little bro'."
"Happy Christmas."
"I'm still gonna kill you for doing this to the car you know."
"I know."
