Dan leant down on the cold kitchen worktop and turned on the laptop.
"Take your damn time then" he muttered under his breath
The soft echo footsteps could be heard behind him, he turned around and came face to face with his flatmate and best friend Phil staring at him.
"Should we get started then? The pancakes aren't gonna make themselves!" Phil said excitedly
"Sure" murmured Dan
Phil disappeared from Dan's peripheral vision for the few seconds he took to find the remaining utensils they needed to prepare pancakes.
A light reflecting on the pristine white kitchen tiles (who'd have guessed that Phil would have been such an obsessive cleaner?) alerted Dan to the fact that the laptop had loaded and was waiting patiently for him to sign in.
Palms sweaty, legs shaking and feeling light he would faint at any second, Dan grabbed hold of the kitchen worktop for support. This was the moment he had been waiting weeks for; there were no more distractions to hold him back, no more excuses. It was finally time for Dan to come face to face with what could be the death of him. With all the strength he could muster, the boy typed in the dreaded words.
Phil didn't know- he couldn't, no one knew what it would do to him.
Dan had earlier decided on telling Phil when he knew his suspicions were true, when he was certain there was no way out.
Google loaded and with all his courage, Dan typed in the dreaded words that would eventually decide his fate.
The website loaded; as if it had been waiting for him. Finally, Dan's biggest fear reared it's head.
Delia Smith.
Dan's heart rate quickened. With sweaty palms he once again gripped the kitchen counter tight when his knees nearly gave out from under him.
Dan finally knew his fate- he was damned to lust for woman and her baking expertise for the rest of his life.
"Ready to go then?" Phil asked expectantly from behind him
"Uh… yeah I suppose"
He had to act like everything was normal, he'd tell Phil later.
Logging on to tumblr that night- almost forgetting today's events, he braved the 'Danisnotonfire' tag. The first thing he saw was a post by a blog called 'weareallllamas' that read
"What if Dan really did love Delia Smith? Lolololol"
Dan shut his laptop and sighed.
They'd never know the truth.
